Alpha Woodward
IRON STATION – Alpha Walker Woodward, 47, of Furnace Road, died Nov. 21, 2004. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was a native of Mecklenburg County.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara Woodward and Patty Woodward, both of Lincolnton; one son, Ryan Parsley of Lincolnton; one grandchild, Caleb Woodward; five sisters, Omega Deppe of California, Ruth Cheshire of Gastonia, Jane Grooms of Mt. Holly, Joanne Couch of Texas and Gloryanne Jones of Mt. Holly and two brothers, Ben Walker of Stanley and Jimmy Walker of Texas.

Etheleen Wright
Etheleen Grigg Wright, 95, of 8296 Idlewood Drive, died Nov. 21, 2004. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at in Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a cook in the restaurant business.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline Beck of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Pete Lee Roy Grigg of Stanley; two sisters, Hazeleen Kolody of Fayetteville and Era Bell Gibson of Lincolnton and two grandchildren, Tyler Spencer and Ashley Spencer.

Sandra Ray
Sandra Kay Ray, 43, of 3495 Gastonia Highway, died Nov. 21, 2004. Funeral services are 3 p.m. today at Southside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
A native of Lincoln County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include husband J.C. Ray; one son, Cager Ray; one daughter, Cassi Lynn Dockery Norman of Morganton; parents Howard and Ann Norris of Gastonia and two sisters, Susie Lee of Gastonia and Kathy Denton of Virginia.

Lola Weaver
CHARLOTTE – Lola C. Weaver, 88, of 6001 Elmwood Circle, died Nov. 21, 2004. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Antioch Methodist Cemetery in Gaston County.
A native of Gaston County, she was a homemaker and a former member of Antioch Baptist Church, St. James United Methodist Church and United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James E. Weaver of Kingston, Tenn. and T. Michael Weaver of Northport, Ala.; one sister, G.C. Moretz of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Bradley Weaver, Cameron Weaver, Cynthia Trout, Karen Gibbons and Sharon Davis and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Carpenter
CHERRYVILLE – Mary Brooks Slaughter Carpenter, 85, of 110 Lester Street, died Nov. 23, 2004. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Friday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a member of Jacob’s Fork Baptist Church and was retires as a textile worker at Laboratory Mill and Rudisill Textile.
Survivors include one son, Cramer G. Slaughter of Cherryville; four daughters, Carolyn Lail, Evon McKinney, Barbara Smith and Kathy Smith, all of Cherryville; two brothers, Hubert Brooks of Newton and Alvin Brooks of Charlotte; one sister, Virginia Schronce of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Leona Jones
MAIDEN – Leona Louetta Campbell Jones, 96, of Burton Drive, died Nov. 22, 2004. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at Center View Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Catawba County.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby L. Jones of Maiden and W.E. “Ernie” Jones of Charlotte; one sister, Viola McCorkle of Denver; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Overa Kelly
Overa Bollinger Kelly, 80, of 1370 Petes Road, died Nov. 23. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Warlick Funeral Home.

Evelyn Coon
Evelyn Hauss Coon, 90, of 2360 Reepsville Road, died Nov. 23, 2004. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Daniels Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A native of Lincoln County, she was a hairdresser.
Survivors include one daughter, Catherine C. Carpenter of Lincolnton; one sister, Betsy Hoover of Lincolnton and three grandchildren, Jonathan Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, and Sara Carpenter.

Ronald Beard
MAIDEN – Ronald “Ron” Wayne Beard, 53, of Water Plant Road, died Nov. 23, 2004. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
A native of Catawba County, he was in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam and received three Purple Hearts.
Survivors include wife Gina Sigmon Beard; two sons, Billy Jack Beard of Boone and Ronnie William Beard Jr. of Lincolnton; two daughters, Karma Romell of Fayetteville and Angel Renee Ramseur of Maiden; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Beard of Maiden; two brothers, Ricky Dale Beard of Lincolnton and Steve Beard of Lincolnton; two sisters, Alene Parker and Patricia Hoppes, both of Maiden and two grandchildren, Cameron Maiwald and Erikia Ramseur.

Punk Hicks
MAIDEN – Herman Lee “Punk” Hicks, 83, of Bucks Garage Road, died Nov. 23, 2004. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. View Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
A native of Catwaba County, he was the owner of Punk’s Texaco.
Survivors include wife Florence B. Hicks; one son, Winfred Hicks of Maiden; one daughter, Rita Gail Parker of Terrell; one step-son, Larry Burgin of Maiden; one step-daughter, Libby Campbell of Maiden; four grandchildren, Stacy Hicks, Justin Parker, Melissa Parker and Marcie Foster; 7 step-grandchildren, Jimmy Campbell, Samantha Campbell, Brandan Burgin, Nattile Burgin, Johnnie Burgin, Wayne Goodnight and Brian Goodnight and five step-great-grandchildren.

Louise Rudisill Coffey
Mrs. Louise Rudisill Coffey, age 89, of the Stanley Total Living Center and formerly of 639 Southside Church Road, Lincolnton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 20, 2004.
Mrs. Coffey was born in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Carl and Connie Sigmon Rudisill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis D. Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Rudisill of Iron Station. Mrs. Coffey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was very devoted to her family, church and community. She was retired from Burris Industries.
Mrs. Coffey is survived by three sons, Larry Coffey and his wife Peggy of Lincolnton, Thomas Coffey and his wife Jewell of Gastonia and Richard Coffey of Linconton; one grandson, David Coffey and his wife Robin of Lincolnton, NC; one granddaughter, Kelly Washam and her husband Rusty of Lewisville, NC; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Summer and Autumn Washam and Caprice and Josiah Coffey; three sisters, Josephine Mull of Vale, Sue Lutz of Stanley and Martha Bamberg of Danville, VA.
Her funeral was 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Woodyard and Rev. Nathan May officiating. Her body laid in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial followed in Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2004 at Warlick Funeral Home.
