Three mothers sat down one night and came up with the idea to start arranging activities in the Denver area for their children.
“We saw a need for a playground type setting,†said Leslie Davis, who is one of the mothers who helped kick it off. “We thought it would be wise to start something in this area.â€
Parents and Children Together, or PACT, has been meeting since August for activities throughout the month.
Davis, her friend Karen Kincaid and neighbor Beth O’Brien have arranged several types of gatherings.
The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 10 a.m. to noon. Mom’s Night Out is the 2nd Friday of the month and Family Night is the 4th Saturday of every month.
The group has already done several activities such as gathering for ice cream in Huntersville, apple picking and pumpkin day.
This past Monday was Color Day at Lucia Baptist Church where children wore their favorite color and worked on activities related to color.
Children made fruit loop necklaces and drew with crayons.

Davis said the PACT has been working out very well. She used to drive up to Huntersville every Friday with her three children for a national group meeting but found it hard to stay in contact with those mothers.
“I met people but they were 15 minutes away, I didn’t live near them so we did not have access to the same things,†Davis said.
Kincaid also thinks having a group in Denver is a good idea. She brings her two younger children Jake, 4, and Caleb.
She said her son Caleb, who is 21 months old, really needed the socialization.
“He has started speaking now — at home we were talking for him,†Kincaid said.
She also enjoys being able to get out of the house and meet with other stay-at-home mothers.
“Sometimes I think we are the forgotten link,†she said. “I need to talk to other moms, I need to see other women who are going through the same thing as me.â€
The next event will be Mom’s Night Out at MegArt in Huntersville at 7 p.m. The cost will depend on what one purchases.
Nov. 20 will be Family Night at CiCi’s Pizza at 6 p.m. on Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road.
Nov. 22 will be a Kindermusik class with Miss Amy at Crossroads Bible Church.
