Billy Franklin Woods, 68, of Cardinal Health Care, died Oct. 6, 2004. Funeral services are 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.
A native of Lincoln County, he worked in the furniture industry.
Survivors include wife Margaret Woods of Lincolnton and one daughter, Glenda Price of Polkville.
Shannon Penley
CLARMONT – Shannon Ray Penley, 32, of Balls Creek School Road, died Oct. 7, 2004. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery in Conover.
He was a native of Catawba County.
Survivors include mother Delores Hoke Penley of Claremont; father Ray Penley and wife Pam of Conover; two sons, Taylor Thornburg of Maiden and Logan Penley of Conover; one daughter, Allison Penley of Conover; one sister, Deanna Cansler of Conover; one step-sister, Jessica Sheperd of Conover; one step-brother, Jay Sheperd of Conover; grandparents, Cecil Penley of Conover and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hoke of Claremont.

Walker Maples Jr.
NEWTON – Walker Cecil Maples Jr., 65, of Piedmont Village Assisted Living, died Oct. 7, 2004. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after he service.
A native of Sevierville, Tenn., he was a member of Union Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
Survivors include one son, James Dwight Maples of Newton; one daughter, Patricia Schell of Claremont; four sisters, Kathy Tarwater, Sheila Pressley, Jeneva Stokley and Jenny Ogle, all of Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lawrence Wise Jr.
Lawrence “Sam†Augustus Wise Jr., 81, of 502 South Rhyne Street, died Oct. 4, 2004. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Thursday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Lincoln County, he worked in the textile industry and was a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Wise and Jim Wise of Lincolnton; three sisters, Mary Campbell of Charlotte, Betty Bates of Hendersonville and Ann Duncan of Lincolnton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bessie Cline
Bessie Lela Bridges Burke Cline, 92, of 709 Tait St., died Oct. 8, 2004. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Boger City Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
A native of Lincoln County, she was a retired nurse at Lincoln Medical Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Gwen Goodson of Lincolnton; one brother, Jack Bridges of Lincolnton; two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Mary Huss of Lincolnton and five grandchildren, Jamie Goodson, Delora Goodson, Mike Goodson, Nicholas Goodson and Joseph Goodson.

Beverly Burnette Parker
Mrs. Beverly Burnette Parker, age 53 of 2157 Salem Church Road in Lincolnton, NC died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at home.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. today at David Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Cranford and Rev. Andy Royals officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends last night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parker was born on February 10, 1951 in Mecklenburg County. She worked as a mortgage processor at the State Employees Credit Union.
Survivors include: husband, Donald Paul Parker of the home; three daughters, Amy P. Motz and Rebecca Dawn Parker both of Lincolnton, NC, Holly Melissa Parker of Hickory, NC; parents, Ralph and Peggy Caston Burnette; one brother, William Steve Burnette of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Marcia Robin Ayscue of Concord, NC; one grandson, Benjamin William Motz of Lincolnton, NC.
