Peter Christensen
CHERRYVILLE — James Peter Christensen, 49, of 307 W. Ballard St., died Feb. 22, 2004. Funeral services will be at 7 tonight at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 until 6:45 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Niagara County, NY, he was a forklift operator for Gold Medal Homes and a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Lockport, NY.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Arthur and Agnes Christensen of Lockport, NY; one brother, John Christensen of Cherryville and one sister, Mary Bartrop of Naples, Fla.

Jacquelyn Watts
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Watts, 55, of 4444 Jim Wise Road, died Feb. 23, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born in Blairsville, Ga., she was a beautician.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Watts of the home; one son, Rick Ledford of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, David Bingham, Larry Bingham, Don Bingham and Tim Bingham all of Georgia; four sisters, Polly Pierce, Martha Bingham, Brenda Flowers and Linda Cape all of Georgia and two grandchildren.

Vernon Canipe
CHERRYVILLE — Vernon Harold Canipe, 79, of 206 Dale Drive, died Feb. 24, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Travis Canipe of the home and one sister, Aleta McAlister of Lincolnton.

Joseph Woods
DENVER — Joseph Jacoby Woods, 15, of 1208 Brook Path Trail, died Feb. 23, 2004. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tuckers Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in St. James United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Born in Catawba County, he was a student at East Lincoln High School.
Survivors include his father, Joseph McCorkle; his mother, Teresa Woods; four brothers, Torey Smith, Denorris Woods, Jamike Woods and Jasper Woods all of Denver; grandfather, Bobby Joe Woods of Newton; and grandmothers, Gwendolyn Woods of Newton and Louise McCorkle of Denver.
Clemons Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Brandon
SOUTH CAROLINA — Mary Elizabeth Quinn Brandon, 85, of Rock Hill, SC, died Feb. 26, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tirzah ARP Church in SC. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at ML Ford & Sons Funeral Home in SC.
Born in York County, SC, she was a member of Tirzah ARP Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Ray of Lincolnton and Betty Porter of Chester, SC; two sons, James Brandon and Perry Brandon both of York, SC; one sister, Sue Stewart of Clover, SC; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pauline Martin
Pauline Kiser Martin, 93, of Brian Center, formerly of Maiden Hwy., died Feb. 26, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McKendree United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Gaston County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Martin of Maiden and Carl Martin of Lincolnton; one daughter, Betty Hull of Rockledge, Fla.; one brother, David Kiser of Maiden; two sisters, Bertha Goodson and Edith Devine both of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

Edna Corry
CHERRYVILLE — Edna Corry, 69, of 626 Clyde St., died Feb. 24, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at ST Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

MAIDEN — Helen Wentz Kiser, 70, of Wentz Road, died Feb. 26, 2004.

Mary Hager
ALEXIS — Mary Mull Hager, 94, of Alexis, died Feb. 25, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Alexis, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley.
She was employed by Burke County Schools and Gaston County Schools and was a Sunday School teacher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Hager and Bob Hager both of Alexis; one daughter, Mary Lynn Hovis of Alexis; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Alexander Sanders
IRON STATION — Alexander Sanders Jr., 57, of 4087 E. Hwy. 27, died Feb. 26, 2004

Norris Childers
Norris Swain Childers, 85, of 2167 Hwy. 274 N., died Feb. 25, 2004. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, were he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a teacher, girl’s basketball coach and principal of North Brook High School. He was inducted into the Lincoln County Sports Hall of Fame and served two terms on the NC Athletic Association Board of Directors and was Superintendent of the Lincoln County School System.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Helms Childers of the home; four sons, Kelly Childers of Lincolnton, Doug Childers of Cherryville; Todd Childers of Bowling Green, Ohio and Kip Childers of Minneapolis, Minn. and two granddaughters, Brooke Childers and Katy Childers.
