CROUSE — James “Jim†Donald Curtis, 43, of 3294 Dave Heafner Road, died Sept. 20, 2004. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
A native of Lincoln County, he was employed with Bernhardt #14 Plant in Cherryville. He was also a Sunday School teacher, usher and R.A. Director.
Survivors include wife Teresa Seagle; two brothers, Kenny Curtis of Crouse and Jerry Curtis of Cherryville.

Linda Sue Dill Land, 51, of 301 Bryant Cooper Road, died Sept. 20, 2004. Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a native of Lincoln County.

MAIDEN — Marvin Eugene Hudson, 52, of Fred Beard Road, died Sept. 19, 2004. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Burke Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Brookford City Cemetery.
A native of Catawba Co., he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include wife Joyce K. Hudson; one son, Jeffery Hammons of Maiden; two daughters, Tonia Hudson of Brookford and Marya Kirby of Hickory; one brother, Clarence Hudson of Maiden; five sisters, Martha Ann Curtis of Morganton, Terri Lynn Vanphelt of Ohio, Sandra Jackson of Ohio, Karen Vanphelt of Ohio and Debra Burns of Ohio; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four stepsons, Robert S. Stephens of Maiden, Tony Stephens of Maiden, Eric Punch and Jeffery Stephens of Virginia.

NEWTON — Marie Campbell Drum, 71, formerly of Hagan Dr., died Sept. 19, 2004. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. this morning at Mays Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Catawba County.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Woodring of Newton, Vicki Hoover of Hickory and Peggy Wright of Maiden; one brother, Albert Campbell of Maiden; one sister, Joyce Wise of Newton; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hale, Christy Lail, Heath Goble, Keith Goble and Andy Wright and eight great-grandchildren.

LAWNDALE — Hazel Davis Newton, 85, of 5516 Fallston Road, died Sept. 19, 2004. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Lincoln County, she owned and operated Newton’s Grocery Store and was a member of David’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Polly Davis of Cramerton and Muriel Hudson of Hickory.

He was a native of Catawba County.

A native of Concord, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a self-employed electrical engineer.

William “Dub†Willis
Vale – Mr. William “Dub†Craven Willis, 85, of 6897 West Highway 27, died September 18, 2004 at his home.
Born December 17, 1918, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Loyd Lester Willis and Ocie Leonhardt Willis.
A son, Bobby Loyd Willis and a grandson, Bradley Paul Willis, preceded him in death.
Mr. Willis was a lifetime member of Hull’s Grove Baptist Church in Vale. He was a member of the Baxter Lybern American Legion in North Brook and served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was owner and operator of Willis Plumbing for 38 years.
Mr. Willis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annie Ruth Buff Willis; a son and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Jill Willis and Ruth Willis Johnson all of Vale; brother, Winford Willis of Lake Norman; sister, Irene Beam Willis of Charlotte; two grandsons and their wives, Lance and Jennifer Willis of Vale and Jason and Page Willis of Lawndale; and a great-grandson, Jacob Willis.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Marcus Redding and Jeremy Mahaffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside committal in the church sanctuary.

Edwin “Eddie†Wyatt Harrill
Mr. Edwin “Eddie†Wyatt Harrill, age 66 of 5346 East Hwy 150 in Lincolnton, NC died Monday, September 20, 2004 at Lincoln Medical Center.
His funeral will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Pumpkin Center. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Harrill was born on August 5, 1938 in Lincoln County to the late Paul and Verona Hovis Harrill. He was a machine operator at Getrag Gear in Maiden and previous owner of Little Jim’s Convenient Store.
Survivors include: wife, Nancy W. Harrill of the home; three sons, Steve Harrill, David Harrill and Wesley Harrill, all of Lincolnton, NC; one brother, John Harrill of Lincolnton, NC; six grandchildren, Breanna Harrill, Chelsey Harrill, Stephanie Harrill, Johathan Harrill, Megan Harrill and Luke Harrill.
