Lady Rebels` and Wolves` tennis roll

The West Lincoln Lady Rebels defeated East Gaston on Monday 8-1.
West Lincoln’s No. 1 seed LeAnna Young fell to Jessica Caldwell 6-10. The Rebels’ No. 2 seed Nichol Mick beat Marie Michael 10-4.
Abby Cole, the No. 3 seed for West, defeated Ashleigh Davis 10-8. The Lady Rebels’ No. 4 seed Anna Watson beat Krista Fields 10-2.
Kelly Carter gave the Lady Rebels a 4-1 edge winning over Michelle Rhyne 10-6. Mara Rudisill finished out singles’ play with a 10-2 win.
West Lincoln swept doubles’ play winning 3-0. Young/Mick beat Michael/Davis 8-5. Cole/Watson squeaked by Caldwell/Rhyne 9-7 and Jarji Eller/Casey Williams finished the match with a 8-0 win over Hart/Poole.
The team victory ups their record to 9-2 on the season.

Lincolnton vs. North Lincoln volleyball
The North Lincoln Lady Knights swept the Lincolnton Wolves in JV and varsity competition on Monday.
In JV action, North won 2-0; 25-22 and 25-18. Top performers for the Knights were: Chasity Morgan with three kills and two blocks, McKenzie Harkey with three kills and one ace, Kaleigh Brown with five aces and April Wilson with three kills three digs and three aces.
The win improves the Lady Knights’ record to 9-2 overall with a 2-1 Southern Foothills 1A Conference mark.
The varsity team from North defeated Lincolnton 3-0; 25-20, 25-23 and 27-25. Standouts were: Jessica Ward with six kills, four blocks and two aces, Lindsey Smith with six kills, six aces and two blocks, Allison Castle with nine aces and five kills and Carolyn Weaver with 10 assists, two kills and two aces.
The varsity team’s record for North Lincoln is now 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the SF 1A.

Lincolnton tennis
The Lady Wolves beat Mooresville 7-2 on Monday to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Courtney Boyd from Mooresville beat Shawn Kindley 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1. No. 2 Liz Rhine for the Lady Wolves defeated Allison Billings 6-4, 6-3.
Angela Graham, playing No. 3 for Lincolnton, beat Anna Pardew 6-1, 6-4. Jessica Newton, filling the No. 4 spot for the Wolves, blanked Laura Auten 6-0, 6-0.
Lincolnton’s No. 5 seed Anna Carpenter beat Lori Harrington 6-2, 6-4. Shelly Stevens closed out singles’ play winning 6-0, 6-1 over Sarah Telford.
Boyd/Billings for the Blue Devils beat Kindley/Newton 8-4 for the second win of the match for Mooresville. Mary Heather Lineberger/Rhine defeated Pardew/Telford 8-2. Graham/Stevens for the Lady Wolves closed out the match with a hard fought 8-6 win.
Lincolnton’s head coach Chris Hoffman was happy garnering such a big win.
“This was a great win for the girls. Mooresville has a good team and I expected a tough match. The singles lineup played very well; one of our most consistent efforts this season,” he said.

East Lincoln volleyball
The East Lincoln Mustangs swept Hunter Huss on Tuesday.
The JV team won 2-0; 25-12 and 25-12. Neely Reid had 10 assists and three digs, Katie Reel had seven kills and six aces and Samantha Betts had three kills and five aces.
The varsity squad won narrowly escaped with a 3-2 victory; 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 23-25 and 15-13.
Krista Abernathy had an incredible number of assists with 37. She also had eight digs and two aces.
Lauren Sharpe was deadly at the net, putting home 23 kills, along with seven blocks, three roofs and three aces. Elizabeth Covington had 10 kills, two blocks, one roof and three aces.
Dana Griffin was the main serving weapon for the Lady Mustangs with four aces on 29-of-31 serving, while recording four digs and three kills.
The JV team improves their record to 3-6 and 3-1 in the Big South 3A. The varsity ups their mark to 2-7 and evens their BS 3A record at 2-2.
According to head coach JT Spanos, ‘The young Mustangs are growing up.’

North Lincoln tennis
The North Lincoln Lady Knights blanked North Gaston 9-0 on Monday.
Caroline Farris, Sarah Long, Jordan Kinney and Hannah Mozeley the top four seeds for North blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
No. 5 seed May Eiser beat Stephanie Gibbs 6-1, 6-0. Nataleigh Hitt finished singles’ play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gabriella Helms.
In doubles’ competition, Farris/Kinney beat Lopez/Helms 8-0. No. 2 seed Long/Mozeley defeated Miller/Reep 8-0.
Eisner/Hitt, North’s No. 3 seed beat Gibbs/Abernathy closing out doubles’ play.
Exhibition matches saw Meghan Hall and Becky Duggan beat Lora Leviner/Ashleigh Mosteller 8-4, Taylor Holden and Elizabeth Rodriguez defeat Kristen Beard/Paris Bey 8-2 and Jessalyn Cullitan pick up an 8-1 singles’ victory.
