Mary Edwards
MAIDEN — Mary Parker Edwards, 86, of Brian Center, died Sept. 1, 2004. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Burke Mortuary Chapel. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery.
A native of Catawba County, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Donald Parker of Newton; one sister, Ilease Hullett of Maiden; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

James Church
STATESVILLE — James Lynn Church, 63, of 187 Church Farm Lane, died Aug. 31, 2004. Funeral Services are 3 p.m. today at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Iredell County, he was retired from the R.R. Donnelly Printing Company.
Survivors include his parents James E. Church and Lena Tayes Church; his wife, Loletta King Church; one son, Keith Church; two daughters, Becky C. Sharpe and Cheryl C. Pearce; five brothers, Larry Church, Ronnie Church of Texas, Gene Church, Wayne Church and Dennis Church; five step-grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren.

Frank Ewing Jr.
SPENCER MOUNTAIN— Frank Kinsey Ewing, Jr., 75, died Sept. 1, 2004.
A native of Worcester, Mass., he was active in land conservation.
Survivors include one daughter, Robin Ewing; two sons, Charles Ewing of Spencer Mountain and Tom Ewing of South Carolina; one brother, Scott Ewing of Florida; two sisters, Nancy Nye and Martha McElman, both of Massachusetts and four grandchildren.

Mildred Chubbs
DENVER — Mildred Delores Chubbs , 76, of 1614 Pheasant Lane, died Aug. 31, 2004.
A native of Pennsylvania, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Chubbs and Arthur Chubbs, both of Denver; one daughter, Linda Hall of Trainer, Penn.; one brother, George Lynn of New Jersey; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lena Burke
MAIDEN — Lena Parleir Burke, 76, of East Hwy. 150 died Sept. 3, 2004. Funeral Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Center View Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Catawba County, she was a member of Center View Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, John Parleir of Havelock; two daughters, Linda Ann Parleir Singletary of Concord and Virginia Carol Parleir Austin of Maiden; one brother, Manley Lee Walling of Newton; two sisters, Analeah Hoke of Claremont and Phyllis “Tenny†Garrison of Lincolnton and four grandchildren.

Kenneth Perkins
MAIDEN — Kenneth Mack Perkins, 88, of 5452 Hwy. 150 East, died Aug. 31, 2004. Funeral Services were held Thursday at E.F. Drum Chapel.
A native of Lincoln County, he was a self-employed pier builder.
Survivors include his wife Frances Carpenter Perkins; one son, Bobby J. Perkins of Denver; one daughter, Patsy A. Perkins of Maiden; two brothers, Harold Perkins of Mooresville and Billy Perkins of Mount Holly; one grandson, Craig Perkins of Denver; one granddaughter, Leighann Campbell of Lincolnton and two great-grandchildren.

Bobby Joe Poovey
Bobby Joe Poovey, 68, of 1458 Tin Lane, died Sept. 1, 2004. Funeral Services are today at 2 p.m. at South River Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is a native of Lincoln County.
Survivors include two brothers, Claude W. Poovey and David C. Poovey, both of Lincolnton; three sisters, Lorene Carpenter of Lincolnton, Ann Welch of Charlotte and Mary Lou McGinnis of Dallas.

Jessie Estep
GRANITE FALLS – Rev. Jessie Stewart Estep, 44, of 5688 Reid Rd. died Sept. 1, 2004. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at High Shoals Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in the High Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Born in Iaejer, W. Wa., he was pastor of Dudley Shoals Church of God, worked as a truck driver for Shulls Trucking and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include wife Delilah Estep; one daughter, Raymona Estep of Greenville; one son, Christopher Estep; three brothers, Daniel Estep of Arkansas, Michael Estep of Pineville, W. Va. and Tracey Estep of Lexington and one sister, Patricia Stinson of Avondale, W. Va.
