The JV team of North Lincoln volleyball improved their record to 4-1 on the season with a win over Kings Mountain on Thursday.
The JVs won 2-0; 25-12 and 25-17.
The varsity Lady Knights lost 3-0; 13-25, 18-25 and 23-25. Their record now stands at 2-3 on the year.
The varsity Lady Wolves’ volleyball team beat South Point 3-2; 25-12, 25-14, 23-25, 22-25 and 15-10.
Leading servers were: Kennan Eaddy with 30 points, Kendall Bradley with 18 points, Lindsey Sain with 13 points, Jessie Cline with 12 points and Cristina Leon with 11 points.
Santana Edwards contributed with 11 points, Elizabeth Stepp had eight points, Charlotte Clark had five and Hannah Parker had three points.
The Lincolnton JV team won 2-0; 25-12 and 25-23. Leading servers were: Ashley Broadway with 21 points, Madison Lanier 14 points, Charity Hamilton with five points, Kim Zuniga with four points, Keelie Steward, Jenna Seagle and Brittany Nicholson each chipped in with two points.
The varsity record is 3-0, while the JV team raises their record to 2-1.
The Lady Wolves tennis team fell 7-2 to Ashbrook on Thursday.
Ashbrook’s No. 1-3 seeds Nina Burgoon, Betsy Hauer and Kathryn Hannon won 10-1.
Lincolnton’s No. 4 seed Angela Graham lost to Ashley Burgess 10-7. Jessica Newton, playing in the No. 5 slot, picked up the only singles’ victory for the Wolves beating Ashley Moore 10-4.
Ashley Whitesell beat Anna Carpenter 10-7 at No. 6.
In doubles’ play, Burgoon/Hauer defeated Kindley/Newton 8-4. Mackie/Geyer defeated Rhine/Lineberger 8-5. The No. 3 doubles team of Graham/Stevens defeated Lisle/Gray 8-5.
Despite the loss, Chris Hoffman was upbeat considering the caliber of his opponent.
“I thought we played a fairly good match against a strong Ashbrook team. The top of their lineup can play with anybody around. We pressed them at the bottom half of the lineup,†he said.
Lincolnton falls to 2-2 on the season, while Ashbrook raised their record to 4-1 on the year.
On Tuesday, the Wolves’ tennis team beat South Point 7-2.
South Point’s No. 1 seed Brooke Baird beat Shawn Kindley 3-6, 6-2, 7-4. No. 2 Liz Rhine defeated Erin Sanburg 6-2, 6-0.
Shelley Stevens and Angela Graham, at No. 3 and 4, blanked their opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Jessica Newton completed singles’ play beating Lillian Stokes 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the Lady Wolves lost the first matchup as Baird/Sanburg beat Kindley/Carpenter 8-4. Rhine/Lineberger then defeated Moon/Thorpe at No. 2.
The victory was the second on the season for Lincolnton.
