Irene Mauney
CROUSE — Sarah Irene Yount Mauney, 86, of 2739 St. Mark’s Church Road, died Aug. 11, 2004. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Born in Gaston County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Mauney and Sybil Black both of Crouse, Fran Sanford of Lincolnton and Libby Beal of Sherrills Ford; a sister, Evelyn Eaker of Bessemer City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James Jones
IRON STATION — James Marvin Jones, 60, of 1568 Forum Lane, died Aug. 11, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Iron Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 today at the funeral home.
Born in Habersham County, Ga., he was a security guard in the textile industry.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Canipe Jones of the home; a son, Tommy Hartness of Easley, SC; a sister, Louise Gibson of Belmont; two brothers, Junior Jones and David Jones both of Belmont; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Douglas Wiles
CHERRYVILLE — Douglas E. Wiles, 50, of 2280 Fairways Drive, died Aug. 12, 2004. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Cherryville, where he was a member. Interment will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Rockford, Ill., he was employed by Briggs Transport, Ryder, Carolina Freight Carriers, Watkins Freight and Custom Logistics.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay Johnson Wiles; a son, Grant Wiles of Chapel Hill; a daughter, Amy Cody of Lincolnton; a graddaughter, Megan Cody; a brother, Steve Wiles of Rockford, Ill. and his parents, Laurence and Virginia Hoisington Wiles of Rockford, Ill.

Luther Trammell
CHERRYVILLE — Luther Trammell, 63, of 210 Kenwood Road, died Aug. 11, 2004. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, he was he was retired from Long’s Heating and Air Conditioning and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Sellers Trammell of the home; a son, Tommy Trammell of Cherryville; a daughter, Sharon Abernathy of Cherryville; two grandchildren, Abbie Trammell and Jonathan Abernathy and two sisters, Mary Pope of Hickory and Betty Hull of Vale.

Bessie Nixon
Bessie Hill Nixon, 82, died Aug. 9, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker’s Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from the Lincoln County School System.
Survivors include two sons, James Nixon of Denver and Rome Nixon of Newton; four daughters, Gracie Barnes of Gastonia, Radiant Payne of Pittsburgh, Pa., Betty Reinhardt of Charlotte and Dr. Linda Hudson of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Jake Hill of Salisbury, five sisters, Essie Foster of Iron Station, Willie Hunter of Lincolnton, Alice Jones of Silver Springs, Md., Frances Huff of Temple Hills, Md., Margie Jackson of Camp Springs, Md.; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
