Marty Shane Weaver

Marty Shane Weaver, age 48, of Hilltop Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Whitesides and Rev. Clay Ledford officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Marty was born August 14, 1969, in Lincoln County, to Barbara Biggerstaff Weaver and the late James Ray Weaver. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Rusty Weaver.  He worked as a drywall finisher.  Marty was an avid fan of the Cowboys and Tarheels, and was a very giving and loving person.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara B. Weaver of the home; a brother, Mark Weaver, and wife Malinda, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Lindsey Weaver of Wilmington; a nephew, Jake Weaver; and a niece, Mailee Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of one’s choice, or to the Lincoln County Humane Society, PO Box 23, Lincolnton, NC 28093.

Carl Clifton Rhyne

STANLEY — Carl Clifton Rhyne, age 86, of Stanley Total Living, and formerly of Iron Station, passed from his earthly home to his Heavenly home and Father on October 10, 2017. He had been living at Stanley Total Living for two and a half years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, in the Iron Station Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Kirk officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on today, October 11, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Carl was employed as a heavy equipment operator for McGee Bros. in Charlotte. He owned his own business for a while, eventually selling out to McGee Bros.

Carl was one of the hardest workers and known to be excellent in operating all kinds of heavy equipment. He was a wonderful provider for his family, a wonderful husband and father.

Carl served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1951–1954 and was a member of American Legion Post 16.

He was born September 13, 1931, in Robeson County, to the late Alma Ivey Rhyne and Paul I. Rhyne. He had one sister, Frances Rhyne Caskey, who recently passed, and her son, Ronnie Caskey.  He had four nieces and one nephew, Carol Caskey Connor, Ellen Caskey Lingerfelt (Wally), Pam Caskey Huskey and Jan Caskey, and nephew is Robin Caskey.

Carl is survived also by his wife, Roberta Fudge Rhyne; children, Rhonda Rhyne Dysart, Bruce Rhyne (Janice), Kitty Rhyne Troxell, Rex Rhyne (Beth); ten grandchildren, Eric Hollar (Sara), Piper Rhyne, Paris Rhyne, Paul Rhyne, Will Rhyne, Tanner Rhyne, Lexi Sims, Claudia Dysart, Veronica Yost (Drew), and Zachary Dysart; and five great-grandchildren, Anna and Daniel Hollar, Garrison Patrick, Lilly Yost and Nora Yost.

Carl was a Christian, born again at New Life Baptist Church and later became a deacon. Everyone that knew Carl loved him. He played football at Lincolnton High.  He loved the Washington Redskins, Duke Basketball, and Atlanta Braves baseball.  He loved to play cards at the Oakhill Golf course.  He loved Red Pickleseimer and his family and workers.  He loved reading the Charlotte Observer from cover to cover every day.

He liked to hang out at Jerry’s One Stop in Iron Station to talk to all his buddies there. He loved Jerry’s hot dogs.

Carl is going to be greatly missed by his wife and family and all his friends, but we will all be together again one day in Heaven – if we have accepted what Jesus did on the cross. If we repented and he washed away our sins; please everyone be sure that you have and we will be together forever in Heaven.

Laura Lynn Heavner

Laura Lynn Heavner, 55, of Forest passed away at her home Thursday, October 5, 2017. She was the loving wife of Todd Heavner of 33 years.

Born June 23, 1962 in High Point, she was the daughter of Frank and Sarah Joyce of High Point. She was a graduate Ragsdale High School and Appalachian State University with a degree in Business Information Systems. She formerly worked with Duke Energy in Charlotte, and was a member Bethpage Lutheran Church in Lincoln County. Laura was an avid bee keeper and had great interest in astronomy. She also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and other volunteer work. She was an amazing mother to her two children, Josh and Emily.

In addition to her loving husband, Todd; she is survived by a son, Josh, (his friend Amanda Godby); a daughter, Emily, (her friend Steven Rosendahl); her parents, Frank and Sarah Joyce; one brother, David Joyce, and his wife Martha; nephews, Hunter Joyce and his wife Elizabeth, Zane Heavner; niece, Elise Joyce; brother-in-law Mike Heavner and his wife, Debbie.

A Celebration of Laura’s Life and Faith was held October 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Propst officiating. The family received friends immediately after the service at the church.
