Linda Marie Mitchell Beam

Linda Marie Mitchell Beam, 76, of Denver, NC. passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Olde Knox Commons Huntersville.

Born on July 21, 1941, she was the daughter of Howard Owens and Geneva Pettitt Mitchell. She was an executive secretary by profession.

Mrs. Beam is survived by her husband, Jim; sons Chad and Mitch and grandson, Chad Jr.

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 No. Pilot Knob Rd. Denver, NC. 28037. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

James “Jamie” Darryl Shumaker

James “Jamie” Darryl Shumaker, 44, of Mooresville passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

He was born on June 5, 1973 in Iredell County, to Randolph “Randy” M. Shumaker and the late Betty Sunderlin Shumaker. Jamie was the General Manager for Clayton Homes in Conover and also was an entrepreneur with several different businesses. He was a member of Ostwalt Baptist Church in Troutman. Jamie always said and was, God first, family second, and then work. He enjoyed playing the banjo, hunting, and spending time with family. His passion was honoring veterans, POW/MIA, where he wrote and sang “Unknown Heroes”.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Robin R. Shumaker; and brother, Randolph “Buck” Shumaker, II.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Kylee Brooks Shumaker; children, Jessica Legursky and husband, Justin, Jarrod Shumaker and girlfriend, Katie Choate, Nicholas Shumaker; brother, David Shumaker; grandmother, Vera Shumaker; grandchildren, Aiden and Ava Legursky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. with a service at 3 at Ostwalt Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Morris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to POW (Prisoners of War).

Cheryl (Cheri) Lea Mashburn, 53, of Conover passed away September 29, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. October 5, 2017 at Saint Marks Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. October 5, 2017 at the Church. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. October 7, 2017 at Sawyer Cemetery near Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Danny “Dan” Ray Cox, 67, of Maiden passed away on September 30, 2017.

A celebration of life service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends on October 3, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church.

Dorcas W. Harrill, 94, of Maiden passed away October 1, 2017.

The Harrill family will receive friends today at Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery.
