Donald Glenn Ritchie

IRON STATION — Donald Glenn Ritchie, age 81, of Iron Station, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in the Alexis Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Scott Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Alexis Baptist Church.

Mr. Ritchie was born January 25, 1936, in Lincoln County, to the late Luther G. and Lucy Long Ritchie. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patty Ritchie.  He served in the United States Army and later retired from Duke Energy.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hoover Ritchie of the home; a daughter, Glenda R. Mauney, and husband Paul, of Iron Station; two brothers, Neal Ritchie, and wife Pat, and Ray Ritchie, and wife Robin, all of Iron Station; one grandson, Christopher Mauney, and wife Hilary, of Holly Springs, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Linden Mauney and Lane Mauney.

Memorials may be made to the South Fork Baptist Association, for the handicapped ramp fund, 2261 Laboratory Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Maryann Oddy Burns

Maryann Oddy Burns, age 77, of Lincolnton died Saturday, July 29, 2017.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. today, July 31, 2017 at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Gary Fulker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. today at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burns was born on September 22, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Robert Peter Oddy and Helen Gertrude Gordon. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Burns and a brother, Robert Oddy.  Mrs. Burns was the proprietor of Burns Accounting.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Sposa and husband Curt, of Md. and Laura Sculthorpe of N.C.; three sons, James Burns of N.C., Donald Burns of N.C. and John Corby of NJ; one sister, Fran Barborak of Calif.; two brothers, Edward Oddy and wife Betty, of Calif. and Fred Walters and wife Evelyn, of NJ; ten grandchildren, Bryan, Paige, Jason, Ian, Ethan, Jessica, James, Alexander, David and John; and six great-grandchildren.

Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton is serving the Burns family.

 

David Livingston Henderson

David Livingston Henderson, Sr., 67, of Lincolnton passed away July 27, 2017.

A memorial service will be held August 1, 2017 at 5 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Bobby Lawrence Glenn

Bobby Lawrence Glenn, 79, of Newton passed away July 28, 2017.

A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in Newton. The family received friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 60 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton.

Marshall Nolan Butler

Marshall Nolan Butler, 68, of Conover passed away July 27, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

Bennett Funeral Service of Conover is serving the Butler family.

 

Rena Faye Queen

Rena Faye Queen, 58, of Vale died 29, 2017.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Newton.

Jerry Lynn Samples, 68, of Hickory passed away July 29, 2017.
