Stella Frances Crouse Brown

Stella Frances Crouse Brown, age 86, of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, and formerly of Asbury Church Road, died Monday, July 24, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Bud Painter officiating.

Mrs. Brown was born September 2, 1930, in Lincoln County, to the late Willie “Bill” Crouse and Alice “Duck” Hester Crouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Brown, and an infant sister. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby Franklin Brown of Ridgeland, SC, and Arthur Leroy Brown, and wife Shelby, of Lincolnton; one sister, Grace Spencer, and husband Daries, of Lincolnton; one half-brother, Rev. J.W. Crouse, and wife Ruby, of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Robert Melvin Brown, and Victoria, of Lincolnton, and Christopher Brown, and wife Marissa, of Lincolnton; sister-in-law, Ruth Cloninger of Lincolnton; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Brown, Eli Brown, Sarah Brown, and Brantley Brown; and three nieces, Karmen Spencer, Robin Huss, and Barbara “Bobbie” Barrier, all of Lincolnton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Norman Dale Lowery

Master Sergeant Norman Dale Lowery, “Sarge”, age 57, of Rockhill, S.C. passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his residence.

Born August 15, 1959 in Houlton, ME, he was the son of Winfield Lowery and the late Francis Kinney Lowery. Norman, known as “Sarge” was a US Air Force Veteran and served our country for 21 years in Security Forces. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and also a member of the VFW. He loved archery and shooting.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Army Sgt 1st Class Jonathan W. Lowery, KIA Mosul, Iraq.

He is survived by: father, Winfield Lowery; wife, Nancy Sanders Lowery whom he married September 3, 2010; three children, Norman Lowery, Ashley Lowery and Nathan Lowery; three grandchildren, Exavier, Savannah and Peyton Lowery; step-children, Ashley Flowers and Jonathan Whitt; four siblings, Winfield Lowery, Lawrence Lowery, Mike Lowery and Michelle Lowery.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton with Rev. Ralph Abernethy, III officiating.

A memorial service will be held today at 6 p.m. at Fairgrove Baptist Church in Hickory. The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at Fairgrove Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held July 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with burial to follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

Cherryl Jean Barbour, 54 of Newton passed away July 23, 2017.

A funeral service will be held July 29, 2017 at the Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
