Anita Adkins McIntosh

CHARLOTTE — Anita Adkins McIntosh, age 61, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, surrounded by family.

Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Anita was born on September 29, 1955, in Lincolnton. She was one of three children of Charles Jackson Adkins, Sr. and Sarah Monee Rash Adkins. She grew up in Lincolnton.  She was employed with BB&T Bank in Charlotte for over two decades.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Sarah Adkins of Denver, as well as her children, Caleb McIntosh (Kelly Hill) and their son Holden, Wendy Norvell (Bradley) of Charlotte, and their late son, Lincoln, and Cindy Lofton (Jim) of Charlotte and their children Shepherd and Lea. As well as her sister, Sarah VanHoy Proctor (Larry) of Shelby and her brother Charles Adkins, Jr. of Hollywood, Fla., and her nephews, Eddie VanHoy (Jennifer) and David VanHoy (Kellie) and eight great-nephews and nieces.

Anita was a graduate of Lincolnton High School, Class of 1973, and attended UNC-Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charlie VanHoy of Shelby, grandson, Lincoln Thomas Norvell, as well as her grandparents, Fannie and Thomas Rash of Lincolnton, and James and Ercella Adkins of Meadow Creek, W.Va.

The family asks that all memorials be directed to the Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204, or Colon Cancer Support Network of the Carolinas, 10020 Monroe Road, Suite 170, Matthews, NC 28105.

Nora Frances Scoggins Houser

Nora Frances Scoggins Houser, age 91, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at National Health Care Nursing Center of Anderson, S.C. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Lincolnton, Lincoln County, Ga. to Leroy and Sue Jane Parton Scoggins. In her childhood, she moved with her parents to Lincolnton, NC where she grew up.

Frances was cherished as a mother and homemaker by her husband James Franklin Houser and their five children. She also worked in various positions at the Naval Shipyard in Baltimore, MD, Westinghouse Electric in Baltimore, MD, and Leslie Fay in Lincolnton.

Frances and James Franklin Houser were married in 1945, after his discharge from the Navy. They were married for 36 years prior to his death.

Frances was baptized and a member of the North Anderson Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C. where she resided since 2005.

She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, gardening and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Sue Scoggins; brothers, Marshall Scoggins and Cleave Scoggins and husband James Franklin Houser.

She is survived by her children, Shirlyn M.Wenrich (John) of Gainesville, Ga., James F. Houser, Jr. (Betty) of Lincolnton, Theresa H. Osborne (Paul) of Lincolnton, David Wayne Houser of Felton, Del. and Brenda H. Morgan (Steve) of Pendleton, S.C.; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Her immediate family will hold a private viewing at Jenkins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Flowers will be accepted at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658 or donations to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made in her memory at www.Alz.org.

Linda Faye McBride, 75, of Sherrills Ford passed away July 11, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held July 22 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lake Norman Lutheran Church, in Denver Inurnment will take place July 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans National Cemetery, Salisbury.

Hunter Garrison Schronce, 23, of Hickory passed away July 15, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held July 18, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at iChurch in Hickory.

Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Allen Robinson

Ronald “Ronnie” Allen Robinson, 64, of Conover passed away July 14, 2017.

A memorial service will be held July 18, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will receive friends following the service at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.

Sherry Renee Payne

Sherry Renee Payne, 67 of Kings Mountain passed away July 12, 2017.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dewey Hobson Edwards Jr., 80, of Catawba passed away July 15, 2017.

A graveside service will be held July 18, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba. The family will receive friends on Tuesday following the graveside service.

Theresa “Diane” Mosteller Houser, 66, of Lincolnton passed away July 13, 2017.

The family will receive friends July 18, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

Ellis Wayne Hull Jr., 49, of Connelly Springs passed away July 13, 2017.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
