James Cecil ‘J.C.’ Randolph

DALLAS — Mr. James Cecil “J.C.” Randolph, age 78, of Dallas, died on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Troy Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in the David Memorial Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Randolph was born May 30, 1938, in Polk County, to the late Avery Cecil Randolph and Mozelle Tessneer Randolph. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Tindall Randolph; and three sisters, Frankie, Pearl and Betty Jo.  He was a logger.

He is survived by a son, Jerry C. Randolph, and wife Carolyn, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Barbara R. Aldridge, and husband Paul, of Iron Station; special friend, Hazel Hammrick; two brothers, Robert Randolph of Bessemer City and Troy Randolph of Cherryville; two grandchildren, Wendy Hedgepath, and husband David, and Paul Aldridge, Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Bethany, Laura, and Brook Leatherman.

Evelyn Deen Warlick Peeler

Evelyn Deen Warlick Peeler, age 79, of Park Circle in Lincolnton, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at New Vision Ministries with Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Peeler was born August 6, 1937, in Rutherford County, to the late Joe and Vergie Spencer Warlick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Warlick and Harley Warlick. She worked in textiles.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Peeler of the home; a son, Joey Smith, and wife Lynn, of Lincolnton; two brothers, Willard Warlick of Lincolnton and Hugh Warlick of Bostic; one sister, Gladys Biddix of Denver; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Brenda Catherine Hallman

Brenda Catherine Hallman, age 69, of 5160 King Wilkinson Road in Denver, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. this evening, May 19, 2017, at Denver Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Griggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Hallman was born July 5, 1947, in Lincoln County, to the late Rev. Ernest John Sisk and Billie Hamrick Treadway. She retired from Lincoln County.

She is survived by her husband, Vaughn Hallman of the home; a son, Jonathan Hallman of Iron Station; a daughter, Christina Sutton of Lincolnton; a brother, Gary Sisk of Lincolnton; two sisters, Joyce Roberts and Sandra Jennings, both of Lincolnton; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Madison, and Wyatt.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Cecil Lawing Perkins

Cecil Lawing Perkins, 80, of Heavner Road, Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1937, in Iron Station, to the late June Lawing Perkins and Walter Richard Perkins.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Emanuel Reformed Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Susan Walker and Rev. Brent Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on this evening, May 19, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Cecil attended Lincolnton High School, served in the US Army for 2 years, worked in construction driving heavy equipment, and later retired from PC Godfrey in Charlotte after more than 30 years of employment as a pipe fitter.

Cecil was an active member of Emanuel Reformed Church, which he described as being “the church across the street from the Post Office.” Sunday mornings he rang the church bell and invited children of the church to help him.

Cecil had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bus trips with his family to see the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. His granddaughters were the twinkle in his eyes.

Other than his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by one sister, Cornelia (Dee) Perkins Bynum.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Rudisill Perkins of the home; a son, Douglas C. Perkins of Mooresville; a daughter, Cecilia (Cissy) Perkins Hicks, and husband Charles, of Lenoir; two granddaughters, Emily Hicks and Callie Hicks of Lenoir; a sister, Sarah Cox of Charlotte; a brother, Boyd Perkins of Charlotte; three nieces; and five nephews.

Tony Nelson Thomas

Tony Nelson Thomas, 52, of Newton died May 17, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 20, 2017 at the Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service

Kenneth Edward Leatherman

Kenneth Edward Leatherman, 51, of Catawba died May 8, 2017.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
