Sarah ‘Lib’ Elizabeth Henry Potts

Sarah “Lib” Elizabeth Henry Potts, 93, of Maiden passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

She was born August 29, 1923 in Gaston County to the late Alfred and Sarah Hartsell Henry. Lib was a member of Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden and retired from Ridgeview Hosiery after many years of service. She enjoyed gardening, reading, water aerobics, participating in various activities with Lincolnton YMCA Group and the Lenoir Rhyne Aqua Exercise Group as well as spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Miles Andrew Potts; brothers, Howard Henry, Jenkins Henry, Reid Henry, Alfred Henry, Tom Henry, and Ken Henry; sisters, Annie Dellinger, Edith Kiser, Ethel Lineberger, Una Bandy, Ruth Keener and Laura Henry; and daughter-in-law, JoAnne Potts.

Those left to cherish her memory are: sons, Barry Potts of Lincolnton; Dean Potts and wife Kathy of Lincolnton; daughter, Donna Potts Howard and husband Doug of Terrell; sister-in-law, Madolyn Henry of Maiden; grandchildren, Casey Potts and wife Tia of Atlanta, Ga., Toby Potts and wife Wendy of Aurora, Colo., Kristi Keable and husband Mike of Atlanta, Ga., Brandee Bryant and husband Bob of Indianapolis, Ind., Scott Howard and fiancée Nicole Delp of Denver and Laura Burgess and husband Micah of Huntersville; great-grandchildren, Tristan Potts and Miles Potts, of Atlanta, Ga., Everett Potts and Henry Potts of Aurora, Colo., Caroline Keable and Charlie Keable of Atlanta, Ga., Aiston Bryant, Owen Bryant and Baxter Bryant of Indianapolis, Ind.

A service to celebrate Lib’s life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Lawing’s Baptist Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. Matthew Tape will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 3:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Mary Elizabeth Gwyn Lusk

Mary Elizabeth Gwyn Lusk, 70, of Conover died April 12, 2017.

The family will receive friends April 14, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A private memorial service will follow.

Arthur Will Isenhour

Arthur Will Isenhour, 72, of Newton died April 11, 2017.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. April 17, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. April 17, 2017 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.

Maurice Rowland Broome

Maurice Rowland Broome, 82, of Hickory died April 12, 2017.

No services are planned at this time.


Joyce Colean Parker Smith

Joyce Colean Parker Smith, 75, of Lincolnton died April 12, 2017.

A gathering of friends will be held April 19, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Maiden.

Joseph ‘Joe’ F. Kleya, Jr.

Joseph “Joe” F. Kleya, Jr., 87, of Conover died April 9, 2017.

A memorial service was held April 13, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church with military honors. The family received friends following the service. Inurnment followed at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.

Dorothy Iris Lyalls Shook

Dorothy Iris Lyalls Shook, 80, of Claremont died April 11, 2017.

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church in Conover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will received friends April 13, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.
