Benedict John Pepitone
Benedict John Pepitone, 90, of Denver, (formerly of Warsaw, Indiana) passed away on March 13, 2017 in the Marian Center of Sacred Heart Convent, Belmont.
Born on February 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Benedicto and Lillian (nee Lambert). Mr. Pepitone served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Past Commander of VFW Post #1126 and member of American Legion Post #49 both located in Warsaw. Mr. Pepitone was employed as a truck driver before retiring.
Besides his parents, Mr. Pepitone was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa Maryann Pepitone and his daughter, Lillian Pepitone.
He is survived by his children, Benedict (Marie) Pepitone, Neil (Doris) Pepitone, Sandra Pepitone, Sr. Patricia Pepitone RSM, Mark Pepitone and Jennie (Randy) Bassett; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Sacred Heart Convent, 500 Sacred Heart Circle, Belmont, NC. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Pepitone’s memory to the Sisters of Mercy, 100 Mercy Drive, Belmont, NC 28012 would be deeply appreciated.

Brenda Watters Goodson
Brenda Watters Goodson, 76, of Newton passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
She was born September 17, 1940 in Catawba County to the late Donald and Rosalee Goble Watters. Brenda was a member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Billy E. Goodson.
Those left to cherish her memory are: son, Donald E. Goodson of Newton; daughter, Angela R. Goodson of Clemmons; sister, Joann W. Clarke of Sherrills Ford; grandchildren, Eric L. Goodson and Connor G. Goodson.
A service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held today, March 17, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton. Rev. Faye Herbin and Rev. Angela Hollar will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends today, March 17, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church. Those serving as pallbearers are: Lawrence Punch, Jeffrey Hollar, Todd Clarke, Brian Leatherman, Robert J. Clarke, Jr. and Eric L. Goodson.

Willie Mae Dellinger Chapman
Mrs. Willie Mae Dellinger Chapman, age 89, of Salem Church Road in Lincolnton passed away on Monday March 13, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday March 19, 2017 at the First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Tommy Wright officiating, burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chapman was born on August 20, 1927 daughter of the late Carl and Bertha Fortenberry Dellinger. Mrs. Chapman was employed by Cochrane Furniture before retiring.
Survivors include: husband, George Chapman of the home; one daughter, Judy Chapman Short and husband Darrell of Vale; one son, Michael Carl Dellinger and wife Jacquelyn of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Dana Short Rudisill and husband Chip, Audria Short Costner, Darra Short, Luke Dellinger and wife Jennifner, and Cody Dellinger; four great grandchildren, Spenser Rudisill, Makayla Rudisill, Dyllion Costner, Chloe Dellinger; one great-great grandchild, Rylan Rudisill and many special nieces and nephews.

Vernon Edward ‘Ed’ Dutterer
Vernon Edward “Ed” Dutterer, 73, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his Denver home, with his family by his side.
Vernon was born August 25, 1943 in Westminster, Md. and was the son of the late Vernon and Hilda Dutterer.
In 1967, he graduated with a degree in Biology and Math from Bridgewater College in Va. He served in the US Army Reserves for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1971.
Vernon worked as a Computer Programmer at IBM for 26 years, and 16 years at Wachovia Bank. He had a love of travel, birds, gardening, plants, trees, and woodworking.
Vernon is survived by his fiancée, Elizabeth “Liz” Harless of Denver; son and spouse, David and Julie Dutterer and grandchildren Lauren and Allison all of Belton, S.C.; daughter and spouse, Jacqueline and Karen Thompson of Charlotte; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannie and John Sussman of Westminster, Md., Judy and Chuck Siwinski of Westminster, Md., Gloria and Roger Schelm of Cherry Hill, N.J., Charlotte and Morris Koontz of Westminster, Md.
He was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Jim Bowden of Snow Hill, Md.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. until noon at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd, Westminster, Md. with a graveside service to follow at Krider’s Church Cemetery.
