Franklin D. ‘Bill’ Hawkins
Franklin D. “Bill” Hawkins, age 84, of Cardinal Health Care, died on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Hawkins was born June 5, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late James Lee and Janie Reinhardt Hawkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings. He was a carpenter, as well as an evangelical preacher.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Nadine Hawkins of Denver; four sons, James Franklin Hawkins, and wife Serena, of Lincolnton, Scotty Floyd Hawkins of Lincolnton, L. John Hawkins of Newton, and Timothy Andrew Hawkins of Lincolnton; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hubert Hoffman Tish, Jr.
H.H. Tish, Jr. (Bert), of Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his residence.
He was born 2 June 1941 in Mecklenburg County to the late Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Tish, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Joyce T. Jones.
Mr. Bert never met a stranger. He loved God and everyone he met. His love was getting out and working on old cars. Give him a sheet of metal and a hammer and he was so happy. He loved his church, life, and his wife. On Saturday’s he enjoyed riding to the mountains. He loved his children more than they could even imagine, all his children, whether they were blood or not, and he was good to all of them. He had children of all races and they all knew he loved them.
He was a proud veteran, Petty Officer 3rd Class, honorably discharged after 17-1/2 years. He always said if they called him today, he would go back and do it again.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years, Kathy N. Tish of the home; son H.H. Tish, III (Regina); daughters Roxie Tish (Ronnie Darnell), Tory Campbell, Julie Bumgarner (Luis Garcia), Heather Tish; son, Bryson Brooks (Brytni); grandchildren, Krys Swartz (Dale Wilcox), Jessica Diegert (Matthew), Nikolaos K. Tish (Jessica), Kimberly Montecalvo (Ron), Emily T. Piotrowski (Joshua), Corey White, Rea Campbell, Daniel Davila, Samuel Davila; great-grandchildren, Kairi Diegert, Madi Grigsby, Holden Diegert, Ashton Brooks, Landon Diegert, Brantley Montecalvao, Kasy Brooks; brother, Ralph E. Tish (Lynda); sister, Frances T. Whitaker (Dale); and family canine companion, “Gabby.”

Joyce Moretz Burgin
Joyce Moretz Burgin, 84, was born on September 7, 1932. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, and mother. She grew up in Newton-ConoverC with her parents, Atley and Mazie Moretz, and two brothers, James and Sam Moretz. She raised her children in Maiden before settling in Lincolnton with her fun-loving husband, Rodney Burgin.
Joyce was married to the love of her life, Rodney Burgin, for 57 years. Together the couple raised their four children Sherry Cottingham, Shelia Horton, Dale Burgin, and Cindy Leonard.
She was very proud of her family and was excited to take the name Memaw to her twelve grandchildren (Christy, Allen, Stephanie, Mallorie, Michael, Christopher, Mary, Justin, Jessica, Alyssa, Jennifer, and Lindsey) and eleven great-grandchildren (Jackson, Mazie, Kristopher, Kelsey, baby on the way, Bryceson, Laney, Emma, Tori, Addison, and Khloe).
She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Joyce was a very hard worker, spending many years in the textile industry before retiring from Temple Furniture in 2000. She loved collecting, especially Avon bottles and other antiques. She was known for her soft spoken, loving personality and warm heart. She was also known for her abundant energy, never being able to sit still for very long. Joyce loved the holidays and family gatherings; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family and friends will be receiving at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2639 East Hwy 150 Lincolnton, NC 28092 on March 16, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. A funeral service will begin immediately after at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Georgina Anderson Jones
Georgina Anderson Jones, 87, of Gastonia, formerly of Lincolnton, died on March 13, 2017, at Courtland Terrace, Gastonia. She was born December 21, 1929, in Minnesota.
Mrs. Jones enjoyed traveling and had a love for animals, especially cats. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Lincolnton.
She was a devoted worker and a proud homeowner of her home she once had in Lincolnton.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. March 17, 2017 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 2858 East Highway 150, Lincolnton. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. March 16, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service-West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia.
Mrs. Jones is survived by special friends, Carrie Mayer, Ed Meyer and Morgan Gilbert and her Courtland Terrace family.

Nancy Gayle Crabtree Jones, 71, of Lincolnton, formerly of Durham died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Lincolnton, NC. Born on November 12, 1945 she was daughter of the late Samuel Warren Crabtree and Annie Lee Ellis Crabtree Hewett. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Crabtree Schronce of Lincolnton.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James “Gus” Jones, a daughter, Jennifer Lee Jones of Lincolnton, a son, James Bryson “Jamie” Jones, Jr. of Lincolnton, a grand-daughter, Hailey Ellen Jones and a grandson, Nathaniel Bishop Webb. She is also survived by two brothers, Ronald Hewett (Jennie) of Charlotte and Johnny Hewett (Connie) of Durham, one sister, Teresa Hewett Howard (Marcus) of Durham and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Union Baptist Church, 2801 McCorkle Rd., in Lincolnton.

Mary Ellen Pope Carpenter, age 84, of Sante Fe Trail in Iron Station, died on Monday, March 13, 2017.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Carpenter was born September 13, 1932, in Catawba County, to the late Clifton W. Pope and Bertha Clontz Pope. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James V. Carpenter; and a son, Terry Carpenter. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Tony Carpenter, and wife Lora, of Iron Station; a daughter, Patty Setzer, and husband Rusty, of Iron Station; two brothers, Johnny Pope of Claremont and Daniel Pope of Newton; and four grandchildren, Shelbie Setzer, Colby Setzer, Crosby Carpenter, and Brady Carpenter.

Mrs. Curtis was born February 16, 1936, in Homestead, Florida, to the late Dave and Moree Elmore Heafner. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; a son, Jim Curtis; and a grandson, Kyle Garver; and a daughter-in-law, Tonya Curtis. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Donald Curtis of the home; two sons, Kenny Curtis, and wife Sandy, of Crouse, and Jerry Curtis of Lincolnton; two brothers, Tom Heafner of Crouse and Glen Heafner of Vale; two sisters, Linda Gilmore and Carolyn Canipe, both of Crouse; seven grandchildren, A.J. Curtis, Emily Curtis, Rebekah Curtis, Cole Curtis, Austin Curtis, Jaden Curtis, and Gracie Curtis; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Curtis, Hallie Curtis, and Savanna Curtis.
