 Carolyn Pritchard Denton

Carolyn Pritchard Denton, age 66, of Hillcrest Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Covenant Bible Church in Lincolnton, with Pastor Mike Devine and Pastor Nathan Grooms officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Carolyn was born May 1, 1950, in Burke County, to the late Jack and Ethel Fox Pritchard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Johnson.  Carolyn worked as an accountant.

She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Cline, and husband Robby, of Lincolnton; a son, Nathan Denton, and wife Brandy, of Morganton; three brothers, Ronnie Pritchard of Valdese, C.L. Pritchard and Keith Pritchard, both of Morganton; four grandchildren, Cameron Kincaid, Gavin Denton, Isabella Denton, and Noah Denton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Coy Ted ‘Bo’ Scronce

Coy Ted “Bo” Scronce, age 77, of Gilbert Sain Road in Vale, died on Sunday, March 5, 2017

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Freida Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery on Cansler Road in Vale.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Scronce was born January 1, 1940, in Catawba County, to the late Walter and Dorthea Smith Scronce. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Blair and Ned Scronce; and a sister, Dorothy Rojas.  He served in the United States Army and then worked as a truck driver until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Gilbert Scronce of the home; two sons, Sam Scronce and Kenny Scronce, both of Vale; one daughter, Kim S. Williams of Vale; five brothers, Steve Scronce, Buster Scronce, Rick Scronce, Wayne Scronce, and Dean Scronce; one sister, Carolyn Hubbard; three grandchildren, Travis Williams, Katie Williams Davis, and Alyx Scronce; and three great-grandchildren.

Willa Dean Sherrill Hines, 69, of Hickory died on March 3, 2017.

A graveside service will be held on March 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church in Conover.

Robert “Robbie” Charles Hudson, 55, of Hickory died on March 3, 2017.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on March 18, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on March 18, 2017 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.

Ray Alvin Hedrick, 71, of Maiden died on March 5, 2017.

The funeral service will be today at 4 p.m. at East Maiden Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at the church.

Charles “Wayne” Johnson, Jr., 54, of Lincolnton died on March 4, 2017.

Martha Marie Smith, 62, of Newton died on March 3, 2017.

Donald Dean Starling, Sr., 76, of Cherryville died on March 4, 2017.

A Memorial Service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mt Zion Baptist Church.  Burial will be private. The family will receive friends today after the services in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on March 10, 2017 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Logan, Ohio. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on March 9, 2017 and 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on March 10, 2107 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Logan, Ohio. In addition to the funeral service in Logan, Ohio, a memorial service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church at a later date.

The family will receive friends on March 9, 2017 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church and at other times the family will gather at the home of Linda Burch.
