LOCAL ROUNDUP — Knights sweep season volleyball series against West Lincoln

Savannah Dishman had 17 of her team’s 48 kills as North Lincoln’s front line dominated West Lincoln in a 3-0 win in volleyball on Wednesday.
Tressa Amico and Catherine Stegal had eight kills each, Emily Castro added seven kills and Lily Loeffler five as eight players tallied at least one kill. Sidney Russell had 21 digs and Dishman added 15. Emilee Webber had 22 assists in the Knights’ 26-24, 25-15 and 25-21 set wins.
Megan Gloska had three aces and 11 good serves for the Rebels, who also got three aces, four kills and eight good serves from Amanda Ritch. Alex Goins went 7 for 7 on serves, 7 for 8 on hits, and had a pass rate of 82 percent.

WEST LINCOLN 3, WEST CALDWELL 0:
At West Lincoln, the Rebels swept the Warriors 25-17, 25-9, 25-16 for their second Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference win of the season on Thursday. No other details were reported.
West Lincoln (2-4 SD-7) travels to Newton-Conover on Tuesday.
LINCOLN CHARTER 3, PIEDMONT CHARTER 0: At Gastonia Piedmont Community Charter, the Eagles cruised 25-12, 25-7, 25-5.
Madi NeeSmith had seven kills, Tessa Carr had six aces and nine assists, Bentley Earnest had six blocks and five aces, Haley Hubeli had 18 digs, and Gabby Powers had nine assists.
Lincoln Charter (7-0) travels to Christ the King on Monday.

BOYS SOCCER

LINCOLN CHARTER 1, SOUTH POINT 0: At South Point, the Eagles picked up a non-league win on Thursday.
Mattie Groff scored and keeper Isaiah Smith had the shutout.
Lincoln Charter (5-2-1) hosts MICS today.
NORTH LINCOLN 2, ALEXANDER CENTRAL 1: At North Lincoln, the Knights won their first match of the season on Wednesday. No other details were reported.
North Lincoln (1-5, 1-1 North Piedmont 3A/4A) hosts North Iredell on Monday.

EAST LINCOLN 5, NORTH LINCOLN 0: The Falcons shutout the Panthers in a conference match on Tuesday.
Hunter Clanton had two goals, and Brandon Cortez, Miller Towson and Chase Gilley scored one goal each.

JV FOOTBALL

LINCOLNTON 14, EAST GASTON 0: At Lincolnton, the Wolves picked up a non-conference win. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton travels to West Lincoln next week.
FORESTVIEW 22, EAST LINCOLN 14: At Forestview, the Mustangs fell in a non-conference contest. No other details were reported.

GIRLS GOLF

NL FINISHES FIFTH: At Statesville Country Club, the Knights shot a 142 to finish fifth in a North Piedmont 3A/4A Conference match on Wednesday.
Mary Prunier carded a 39, Karleigh Morrison a 49 and Abby Stillwell a 54. The next match is on Monday at Mooresville Country Club.

CROSS COUNTRY

NL BOYS FINISH SECOND: At McAnderson Park, Statesville, North Lincoln’s boys finished second in the Statesville Invitational on Tuesday.
Austin Hillburn finished seventh and Zach Wesson eighth for the Knights, who scored a 68 and finished 17 points behind winner Lake Norman.
NL GIRLS FINISH THIRD: At McAnderson Park, Statesville, North Lincoln’s girls finished third in the Statesville Invitational.
Jordyn Connell was its top finisher at seventh, and behind her was Chandler McCaslin in eighth. The Knights scored 126 points, and finished behind Lake Norman and Northwest Cabarrus.
