LOCAL ROUNDUP — Lincolnton tennis shuts out Highland Tech

Lincolnton’s girls tennis team shutout Highland Tech to improve to 4-1 on Thursday.
Singles winners were Saylor Whitesides (8-5), Kiera Hughey (8-3), Allison Brown (8-0), Amber Herter (8-1), Francesca Rovalino (8-0) and Carly Brocuglio (8-6). Winners in doubles were the teams of Whitesides and Rovalino (8-6), Brown and Herter (8-2), and Hughey and Gabby Amial (8-3).
The Wolves travels to East Lincoln next Thursday.

WEST LINCOLN 5, BURNS 1: At Burns, the Rebels picked up a non-conference win.
Singles winners were Olivia Godfrey, Skylar Greer, Lily Rollins, Brittany Heavner and Mailee Weaver.
WEST LINCOLN 8, HIGHLAND TECH 1: At West Lincoln, the Rebels picked up a non-conference win on Wednesday.
Singles winners were Olivia Godfrey, Skylar Greer, Lily Rollins, Brittany Heavner, Mailee Weaver and Kelsey Watts. Winners in doubles were the teams of Godfrey-Rollins and Watts-Savannah Clark.
LINCOLNTON 5, CHERRYVILLE 4: At Lincolnton, the Wolves won a non-conference match to improve to 3-1.
Singles winners were Allison Brown, Francesca Rovalino and Carly Brocuglio. Winners in doubles were the teams of Brown-Amber Herter, and Kiera Hughey-Gabby Amial.

LINCOLN CHARTER 3, CHERRYVILLE 0: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles remained undefeated with the sweep on Thursday. Set scores were 25-17, 25-23 and 25-15.
Madi NeeSmith had eight kills and 28 digs, Meghan Smith had five aces and 17 digs, Bentley Earnest had seven blocks, Haley Hubeli had 35 digs and Tessa Carr had 13 assists.
Lincoln Charter (5-0, 4-0) travels to Bessemer City on Tuesday.
LINCOLNTON 3, WEST CALDWELL 2: At Lincolnton, the Wolves picked up their first Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference win of the year. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (1-3 SD-7) hosts Maiden on Tuesday.

LINCOLN CHARTER 4, BANDYS 2: At Lincoln Charter, the Eagles earned their first win over the Trojans in school history on Wednesday.
Brandon Tibbits scored two goals and Mattie Groff and Stephen Aguilar added a goal each. Assists were by Roberto Cobos, Curtis Jackson, Thomas O’Brien and Agusto Moron. Eagles keeper Isaiah Smith had two saves.
SOUTH IREDELL 6, EAST LINCOLN 2: At South Iredell, the Mustangs dropped a non-conference match. No other details were reported.
LINCOLNTON 1, NORTH GASTON 0: At Lincolnton, the Wolves picked up a non-conference win on Thursday. No other details were reported.
Lincolnton (5-0-1) hosts Maiden in its conference opener on Monday.
LINCOLNTON-ASHBROOK POSTPONED: Wednesday’s non-conference match between the Wolves and Green Wave was called with 1 minute, 20 seconds left in the first half and Lincolnton holding a 1-0 lead.
