A Statesville man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for sending inappropriate messages and photos to an 11-year-old Lincoln County girl, deputies said. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Tim Johnson and Detective Dan Renn arrested Erik Paul Collins, 42, of 110 Bancroft Lane in Statesville without incident.
Collins was charged with one felony count each of indecent liberties with a child and disseminating obscenity to minors under the age of 13. He was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center and is held under a $125,000 secured bond.
The family of the victim knew the suspect and the alleged incidents occurred during the month of August. Collins is a heavy equipment operator for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Salisbury.
