After three months, there is still no sign of Toasha Rice.
The 27-year-old from western Lincoln County was last seen on May 26 at a friend’s house on Eaker Road, getting into a black four-door sedan with a white female driver.
She has not been seen since.
Leads and tips have come in to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and detectives have exhausted them all, they said.
“We have followed every lead received and have involved Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation, who also used the N.C. SBI to assist them,” Lincoln County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Division Lt. Tim Johnson said. “This was due to a tip that was followed up on that led to a Cleveland County residence. It was later found not to be a valid tip.”
Detectives also used a K-9 Search Team to comb through a large wooded area in western Lincoln County, off of Sorrells Baxter Road and Eaker Road. Interviews with friends, family and a number of people that Rice was known to associate with have neither seen nor heard from her, a fact that makes Johnson uneasy.
“Toasha has not contacted her family, used her financial credit cards, or picked up checks and that is not a good sign,” Johnson said.
Rice is a white female with blue eyes and reddish brown hair. She is 5-foot-6 and weighs approximately 140 lbs. She goes by the name Nikki Green on Facebook.
“We are going to back track our investigation to make sure we have not missed anything,” Johnson said. “We want closure for Nikki’s children and other family members. We need someone to give good information to get a break in this case.”
Anyone with information about the missing woman is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at (704) 735-8202 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 736-8909.
