LOCAL ROUNDUP — Bears’ Wilson makes first cut

Lincolnton native and Chicago Bears cornerback C.J. Wilson made the first round of cuts when the team trimmed 12 players on Sunday.
Wilson, in his second season in the NFL, has only one tackle in three preseason games, but leads Chicago with two interceptions. He grabbed his second career interception in the Bears’ 34-6 loss at Philadelphia on Friday.
The team will trim three additional players by 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday to get down to the league’s mandatory 75-player limit, then let go of an additional 22 players by 6 p.m. EDT Saturday to reach the league’s 53-man limit.

LCS NAMES NEW COACH:
Lincoln Charter School has named Hannah Reynolds its new volleyball coach, the school announced in a press release.
Reynolds won a state championship as a player at Hickory Christian and went on to play for the USA 19-under team. She played college volleyball at Winston-Salem State.
Reynolds is a local club coach and director, and has previous experience coaching in Catawba County.
