Teen charged after one-pot meth lab found

Staff Writer

The Lincolnton Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a “one-pot” meth lab that was found on South Poplar Street on July 24.
Detectives Dwayne McAllister and Dennis Harris conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Joseph Scott Cirillo, 19, on July 31.
The investigation began when a call came in to Lincolnton police about a possible portable meth lab, located at 807 South Poplar Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the portable lab in an outside location on the property.
Narcotics investigators determined that the lab was a “one-pot” lab and documented, photographed and seized it as evidence.
The Lincolnton Police Department utilized the National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLex) database to aid in their investigation.
Cirillo was charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute methamphetamine and possession of precursor chemicals.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
The Lincolnton Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Lincolnton Fire Department, Lincoln County EMS, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
