Silver Alert canceled for county man

UPDATE: The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Troy Scronce was found in Chapel Hill by a good samaritan around 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a West Lincoln man that was last seen on Wednesday. Troy Marshall Scronce, 73, left a residence on the 1500 block of George Brown Road and was seen in his red 1996 dually Dodge truck, license plate North Carolina BJ9074, travelling towards Crouse Road. After being contacted by his family around 6:30 p.m., Scronce informed them that he was looking for Shelby. He was reportedly on Highway 221 in Cleveland County, traveling south toward South Carolina.
Scronce was wearing a short-sleeved, white polo shirt, brown shorts, white tennis shoes and a gold colored watch. He is six feet tall and weighs around 275 lbs. with reddish-brown and grey hair. Scronce suffers from dementia and is on a medication regimen for it. He has officially been listed as a missing person with the NCIC.
