Rev. Fred Falls Jr.
GASTONIA — Rev. Fred Falls Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Fred Falls Sr. and Lula Martin Falls. Rev. Falls was a 1960 graduate of Pfeiffer University and Duke University Divinity School. A ministry in the United Methodist Church spanning over 45 years, Rev. Falls served churches in Fayetteville, Garner, Hamlet, Burlington (Front Street), Raleigh (Edenton Street), Gastonia (First United Methodist), and Crouse (Crouse United Methodist and Pleasant Grove). While in Gastonia at First United Methodist Church, he was instrumental in building the current Family Life Center. Rev. Falls served on numerous committees and boards within both the Western NC and Eastern NC Conferences of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Falls enjoyed playing golf, but more than that, he enjoyed the relationships formed with the sport.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Falls was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie “Derice” Weir Falls.
Rev. Falls is survived by a son, Christopher Brian Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Mark McIntosh; granddaughters, Hope and Holly McIntosh; sister-in-law and husband, Marlene and Art Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, the No No’s Supper Club.
Family and friends of Rev. Falls are invited to attend his memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Christy and Dr. Jim Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Hospitality Room.

Michael Gene Lind
Mr. Michael Gene Lind, age 54, of 8493 Pine Lake Road, Denver died Sunday, July 27, 2014.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morrie Lawing officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Lind was born on December 1, 1959 in Pontiac, Illinois and was the son of John K. Lind and the late Patricia Lind. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John R. Lind. Mr. Lind worked as a general contractor. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was most compassionate with his giving to others.
He is survived by his son, Brian Lind of Pontiac, Illinois and granddaughter, Emma Lind; two brothers, Patrick Lind and wife, Lisa of Pontiac, Illinois and Joseph Lind and wife, Pam of Pontiac, Illinois; two sisters, Debra Golliday and husband, Rick of Pontiac, Illinois and Janet Runyon and husband, Mike of Pontiac, Illinois; his loving companion of many years, Celeste Renaldo of the home; her daughter, Heather Mann and son-in-law, Weldon Mann of Charlotte; her son, Donny Renaldo and wife, Claire of Charlotte; grandsons, Will Mann, Henry Mann, Bradford Mann and Philip Renaldo all of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.
A fund in memory of Michael will be established in the future for his granddaughter, Emma Lind. Memorials may also be made to the Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation, PO Box 861, Denver, NC 28037.

Charles Lindsay Ferrell
CHERRYVILLE — Charles Lindsay Ferrell, age 74, of Hwy 274 N, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Lincolnton Rehab. He was born on April 14, 1940 in Newberry County, S.C. to the late Stewart Lindsay and Eunice Elizabeth Brooks Ferrell. Charles was a member of Missionary Methodist Church. He was a retired lab technician working for Mohican Mills, Travis Knits, and Gaston Industries. He then worked part-time with Carpenter’s Funeral Home. Charles loved playing his guitar and played with many groups and individuals. He enjoyed sharing his gift of music in church, assisted living centers, and nursing facilities. Charles also spent his time working in his yard. He was a very faithful and kind man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Annie Pearl Willis Ferrell and Maxine Evelyn Reynolds Ferrell; sister, Jacqueline Ferrell Hand; and a step-son, Gary Dean Willis.
Survivors include his sons, Richard L. Ferrell and Thomas Derek Ferrell, and their mother, both of Dallas; niece, Sheri Nees of Sarasota, Fla.; and two nephews, Barrett Hand of Mount Dora, Fla. and John Hand of Bradenton, Fla.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services.
