Acting on a confidential tip, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators busted the sixth meth lab of the year on Wednesday.
Conducting a knock-and-talk investigation following leads from concerned citizens, investigators knocked on the door of 3057 Chinook Trail in Lincolnton. No one answered the door but, shortly after, officers located a burn barrel in the backyard that contained evidence of precursors to manufacturing methamphetamine and two one-pot meth labs. Investigators obtained a search warrant and found three individuals inside the home
Shawn Lee Black, 42, Charles Adam Basden, 28, and Krystal Rose Revels, 28, all of 3057 Chinook Trail, were all charged with one felony count each of manufacturing a controlled substance schedule II and possess/distribute meth precursor. They were also charged with one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The secondary charge stems from the seizure of marijuana pipes, scales, grinders, and meth pipes. Neither Basden nor Revels have prior charges, but Black has previous misdemeanor charge from 2006 for assault on a female.
All three suspects presented in Lincoln County District Court on Thursday. A $175,000 secured bond was set for Basden and Revels and Black received a $150,000 secured bond each.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Lt. Jason Reid reminded residents of the importance of calling in to the tip line.
“The majority of our investigations stem from tips phoned in by the community,” Reid said in a press release. “Our success over the past four years is credited to the proactive approach put in place by Sheriff (David) Carpenter and the never ending tips phoned into our tip line by the community. We urge all citizens to phone in any tip regardless of the details they can provide to our investigators.”
The tip line number is 704-736-8422.
