Formerly owned by Kindred Healthcare, Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center was recently purchased by Southern Healthcare Management, a company out of Casselberry, Florida.
Providing short-term therapy and long-term skilled nursing beds, as well as physical, speech, occupational and aquatic therapy, the newly renamed Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center will continue to strive for the care and concern that brought Director of Admissions Kristin White to the organization in the first place.
“We work in our residents’ home,” said White. “This is their place, where they reside, and so it’s important that we create a home-like environment that’s conducive to all of our residents, regardless of their needs.”
The facility isn’t just for residents. Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center Administration emphasizes the community inclusion for which the center strives, holding barbecue luncheons and, more recently, a Camp Day in which the center had activities such as tile crafts, a tie-dye t-shirt station, backyard fishing, a water balloon toss and a scavenger hunt.
The center boasts excellent relationships with other local nursing facilities, the local hospice and regional hospitals in the area, and hopes to continue those relationships. Though the transition to new ownership was seamless, Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center is currently in the process of improving landscaping, increasing staff and planning minor remodeling for the facility.
Facility administrator Allen Phillips’ primary goal now that the business has changed hands is the same as it was when he began with the center eight years ago.
“It’s the most important thing in my life that we provide number one care,” Phillips said. “I treat all the residents as I would treat my family.”
Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center is located on East Gaston Street behind the YMCA. For more information, call (704) 732-1138 or visit www.lincolntonrehab.com.
