Insull earns spot at nationals
Andrew Insull has the chance to be listed among some of the greatest professional motocrossers.
The 16-year-old Denver resident has qualified for the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships, the world’s largest amateur motocross race, which will take place July 27-Aug. 2 at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
Insull took on over 20,000 racers from across the U.S. to earn one of 1,466 qualifying positions, according to a press release sent to the Lincoln Times-News. Pro riders Travis Pastrana, Jeremy McGrath, James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael and Jessica Patterson have won the event, the release said.
Insull began riding when he was 6, and has won multiple races and championships in roughly 10 years of racing.
The media release called the national race “the Super Bowl for amateur motocross racers,” and said “you are one of the best 42 racers in the entire country in your class when you line up on the starting gate.”
