A trio of Lincoln County prep football players are expected to do big things in 2014.
After all, they delivered big time last season.
Chazz Surratt of East Lincoln, and Quinlyn Harris and Darian Roseboro of Lincolnton were each named to the NCPreps.com 2A preseason all-state team, which was released on Thursday.
Roseboro, a defensive end and one of the state’s top rising seniors, and Harris, a defensive back and also a rising senior, were named to the online prep publication’s all-inclusive all-state defensive team last week.
Surratt, a rising junior, was selected to the preseason all-state team as an athlete for the second straight year. The quarterback threw for 2,532 yards and 28 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,619 yards and 34 TDs. His 62 total TDs as a sophomore set a Lincoln County record.
Roseboro, a preseason all-state pick last year who will announce his college choice between Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State and Tennessee on Aug. 29, he said, had 124 total tackles and 10 sacks as a sophomore.
Harris, the county’s only post-season all-state pick by the Associated Press in 2013, led the area in interceptions as a junior with 10.
