Alvin Richard Huss Jr., age 55, of 2430 Arcadia Heights Rd. in Lincolnton died Monday, July 7, 2014.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Daniel’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor Mike Collins will officiate. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Mr. Huss was born November 12, 1958 in Lincoln County. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Richard Huss Sr. He was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Huss graduated from Lincolnton High School and Appalachian State University. Upon his graduation he worked in real estate. He later worked in lawn landscaping. Richard loved hunting arrowheads, Indian artifacts, and traditions of the Cherokee Indian nation.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Yoder Huss of Lincolnton; sisters, Carol H. Wise of Lincolnton, Susan H. Boyd of Iron Station and Kate H. Link of Lincolnton; and nieces and nephews.

Nobel Elseana Holmes Pauley
Nobel Elseana Holmes Pauley, age 83, of 2374 Bynum Estates Road in Iron Station, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
Her funeral service will be 3 p.m. today at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Pauley was born April 6, 1931, in Saltville, Va., to the late Felix and Blanche Blevins Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Pauley; five brothers, David Holmes, Ed Holmes, Earl Homes, Carl Holmes, and Joe Holmes; and three sisters, Lorene Holmes Barrett, Rachel Holmes Jackson, and Ruby Holmes Smith. She worked as an assembler for Homelite.
She is survived by three sons, George Pauley, James Pauley Jr., and Ralph Pauley, all of Lincolnton; three brothers, Charlie Holmes of Lexington, Roy Lee Holmes of Baltimore, Md., and Garland Holmes of Saltville, Va.; one sister, Fannie King of Lexington; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
