After roughly three-dozen scholarship offers to play college football at some of the country’s most prestigious Division I powerhouses, Darian Roseboro has whittled his choices down to six.
The Lincolnton High star on Monday used the social media tool Twitter to announce the top six schools on his list. Favorites for the highly-touted defensive end are now, in alphabetical order, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State and Tennessee.
Roseboro released his top 10 schools in May. Omitted from his updated list were Ohio State, Florida, Louisiana State and Duke.
Roseboro is considered a four-star recruit by several national recruiting services, and has received 32 Division I scholarship offers, according to the website 247sports.com.
Among some of the larger, more popular schools Roseboro has chosen not to attend, in addition to the four above, include Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia Tech.
Roseboro, a rising senior, had 124 tackles, 21 for loss, and 10 sacks as a junior. He was voted the 2013 Southern District 7 Athletic 2A Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and helped the Wolves reach the third round of the NCHSAA state 2A playoffs.
He will anchor a defense this season that allowed 291.1 yards, unofficially, and 21.9 points per game in 2013.
