Harold Phillip Cobb
Harold Phillip Cobb, 89, of Lincolnton, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at Hospice in Dallas, NC.
He was born April 10, 1925 in Camptown, Pa. to the late Ralph Emerson Cobb and Marjorie Barnes Cobb.
He was preceded in death by his son, James R. Cobb. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Althea Roe Cobb of the home; son, Phillip Cobb and wife, Jean; son, Richard Cobb and wife, Betsy; daughter, Judy Broesder and husband, Stan of Lincolnton; and grandchildren, Lindsay Hudson, Bethany Broesder, Kimberly Broesder, and Ryan Cobb.
In support of life, the body was donated to advance medicine and Alzheimer’s research through ScienceCare. A private family memorial service will be held.

Gregory Boyce Hurt

CLOVER, S.C. — Mr. Gregory Boyce Hurt, age 54, of 2378 Patterson Road in Clover, S.C., died on Sunday, July 6, 2014.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Robert Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hurt was born September 13, 1959, in Lincoln County, to Reginald B. and Becky Campbell Hurt. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Mr. Hurt worked as a salesman in auto parts.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hurt of the home; three daughters, Brittney Renn of Lincolnton, April Hurt of Gastonia, and Shannon Cooke of Clover, S.C.; two brothers, Tim Hurt and Jeff Hurt, both of Lincolnton; one sister, Lynne Hurt Burgin of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren.

Bobby Joe Snipes ‘Pop’
Bobby Joe Snipes “Pop”, 80, of Iron Station passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at home.
Visitation for family and friends will be held today from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel.
Mr. Snipes was born on June 15, 1934 in Union County, son of the late Claude William Snipes and Eunice Elizabeth Mills Snipes. His wife, Lois Snipes and a sister, Shelly Snipes also preceded him in passing. He was true to his farm boy roots having worked on the farm growing up before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He worked for many years at Lance Packing Company and other places before retiring. He loved the time he spent eating and talking with friends at the Waffle House. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son Tony Snipes and wife Tamara; granddaughter, Rikki Snipes and fiancé Andrew Karweik; a great-grandson Gavin Karweik (Pop’s little buddy); brother, Claude William Snipes Jr. and sisters, Floya Pressley and Hallie Jenkins.

Emmit ‘Shorty’ Williams
Emmit “Shorty” Williams, 95, of Newton died July 8, 2014.
A service to celebrate Emmit’s life will be held July 10, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from noon until 1:15 p.m. at the church and
at other times they will be at the home of his niece, Glenda and Joe Sigmon.

Clyde H. Marlowe
Clyde Herman Marlowe, 84, of Newton died July 6, 2014.
A funeral service will be held July 10, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Old St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Old St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Family Life Center.

Donald William Kester, 78, of Cherryville died July 6, 2014.
A celebration of his life will be held at Anthony Grove Baptist Church on July 11, 2014 at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at the church, prior to the service, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville.
