Charles Stevens, Lions Club College Scholarship Chairperson, announced the 2014 Lincolnton Lions Club College Scholarship recipients at a recent club meeting. Eligibility requirements included that the applicant must be a graduating senior from each of Lincoln County’s four public high schools, a legal resident of Lincoln County and the U.S., submit an application, high school transcripts, two reference letters and an original essay on volunteerism. Scholarships were awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, scholastic aptitude and volunteer service.
The 2014 Lions Club College Scholarships recipients are listed by below:
East Lincoln High School
Cody A. Mocilan will be attending Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory, majoring in math and science. Mocilan is the son of Andrew and Theresa Mocilan of Iron Station.
Lincolnton High School
Jonatavis R. Duncan will be attending Winston-Salem State University, majoring in sports medicine. Duncan is the son of Kathryn Duncan of Lincolnton.
North Lincoln High School
Eugene (Trey) J. Kresge, III will be attending University of North Carolina-Charlotte, majoring in biology. Kresge’s future aspirations are to become a physician. Kresge is the son of Nancy M. Cowan and Eugene J. Kresge, Jr. of Denver.
West Lincoln High School
Matthew R. Mault will be attending George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, majoring in environmental engineering.
Each recipient will receive a $500 scholarship, made payable to their college/university in their name.
