Lincolnton Post 30, North Lincoln Black and North Lincoln Blue will open the Area IV Junior American Legion playoffs on Saturday.
Post 30 (8-11) will face Dallas at 4 p.m. on Saturday at South Caldwell High School. North Lincoln Black (14-7) will face Mint Hill Army at 11 a.m. Saturday and North Lincoln Blue will face Haywood County at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Both of those games will be held at Waynesville Tuscola High School with the winners and losers to face each other later in the day.
There are 14 teams in the double-elimination tournament, with the winners’ bracket and losers’ bracket finals to be held Sunday. A second game to determine each of the four bracket’s champions, if necessary, will be held on Monday.
Belmont South Point, Gastonia Post 123, Rutherford Red and Cherryville Post 100 will play at Gastonia Ashbrook, and Huntersville SouthLake Christian, Mint Hill Marines and Shelby Post 82 will play at Charlotte Independence. South Caldwell drew a bye in Lincolnton’s bracket when Huntersville Hough dropped out. The Queen City Mustangs dropped out of the Independence bracket, giving SouthLake Christian a bye. The losers’ bracket final in those brackets will be played on Sunday.
The four bracket champions will play in a tournament at Mint Hill on July 12, with the top two teams qualifying for the state tournament in Cary, which begins July 19.
