Monroe David Rikard
Monroe David Rikard, age 72, of Lincolnton passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at CMC-Lincoln. He was born in Gaston County to the late Charles Douglas Rikard and Olive Webb Rikard.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Rikard of the home; two sons, David Rikard of Lincolnton and Collin Rikard and his wife Dawn of Maiden; two grandchildren, Trey and Gracie Brakefield and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at E. F. Drum Funeral Home. Rev. Derwin Greeson will officiate.

David Ray Armstrong
SALISBURY — Mr. David Ray Armstrong, age 66, of 150A Neel Road in Salisbury, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Hawkins and Rev. Dick Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Armstrong was born December 15, 1947, in Lincoln County, to the late Amos Myers and Louise Michaels Armstrong. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Armstrong. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a shipping clerk for Precision Industries in Conover. David was an avid guitar player all of his life and was the lead guitarist for the Heavenly Echoes. He enjoyed planting flowers, playing music, flying model airplanes, and loved his family and his church.
He is survived by his wife, Schronda Carpenter Armstrong of Salisbury; daughter, Adria Ramirez and husband Daniel of Texas; a son, Christopher Armstrong and wife Sarah of Maiden; four brothers, Henry Armstrong of Lincolnton, Frank Armstrong and Kemp Armstrong, both of Maiden, and John Armstrong of Mississippi; a sister, Ruth Rudisill of Maiden; and five grandchildren, Katlyn, Leilani, Makayla, Isaac, and Gabriel Armstrong.

Mary ‘Elene’ Self Crouse
BELMONT — Mary “Elene” Self Crouse, passed away June 30, 2014 at home. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Clarence Andrew Sr. and Sallie Mae Ingle Self. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cone Self, Clarence A. Self Jr., Bobby Carol Self, and Archie Ralph Self.
Elene retired as a nurse from Gaston Memorial Hospital and later retired from Stanley Total Living. She was a member of East Garrison Baptist Church. Elene was a dedicated nurse, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Her survivors include her loving husband of sixty nine years, Gaither Calvin Crouse; son, Terry Calvin Crouse; daughter, Penny Armstrong and husband Rodger; sisters, Betty Jo Johnson and husband Gerald, Rebecca Wyte and husband Joe; sister-in-law, Clara Self; grandchildren, Jeremy Crouse, Hailey Ratchford, Julia Ratchford; great granddaughter, Saylor Stacey and a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., today at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Pastor Jack Fleming officiating. Interment will follow the service in Gaston Memorial Park.
