A suspect in three bank robberies, including one in Maiden, was apprehended on Thursday.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest of Joshua Paul Wilson, of 1918 Ellick Drive in Newton, and charged him with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon for the April 4 and May 20 robberies of BB&T banks in Maiden and Claremont. Wilson also has warrants out for a robbery of the BB&T in Valdese on June 13.
Numerous tips from citizens in the community aided the investigation that led to Wilson’s arrest. He is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Center under a $400,000 bond. His first court appearance was Friday.
Wilson has a lengthy rap sheet, with convictions including robbery, larceny, breaking and entering and escaping prison. He has served almost six years in prison for different offenses.
