Senior Event
The Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas Cherryville Highway in Dallas will be hosting a free open mic night at 6 p.m. and a Senior Summer Dance at 7 p.m. Marcel Ellison and Davis Taylor will be providing musical entertainment. Kids Science Event
The Lincoln County Public Library will host “Mr. Bond and the Science Guys” at 6:30 p.m. at the James Warren Citizen’s Center. The show is part of the 2014 summer reading program “Fizz! Boom! Read!” and will cover a broad range of science areas with tornado simulations, sound effects, optical illusions and explosions. The show is perfect for all ages. E-books workshop
The Lincoln County Public Library will host an E-books workshop from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Charles R. Jonas Library. The event will cover how to download and access e-books. For more information, please call (704) 735-8044

Alive After Five
The Downtown Development Association and the City of Lincolnton will host Alive After Five, starting at 6 p.m. with The Rick Strickland Band in downtown Lincolnton. Food vendors will be setup. There will also be a car show / cruise-in.

Medicine drop
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will host an unwanted medicine drop from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Charlie district, 1889 N. N.C. 16 in Denver. Acceptable items will include vitamins/supplements, liquid medications in leak-proof containers, ointments/creams, prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. Aerosol cans will not be accepted. Individuals may remain anonymous when dropping off items. For more information, call (704) 732-9050.

Cline Family Reunion
Descendants of Johann Sebastian Kelin (Cline) and his wife Maria Elizabeth Bieber (Beaver) will gather in Catawba County on June 27 – 29. The weekend will begin with a Friday evening dessert social at a Cline descendants homes in Hickory, to be followed by 2 days of activities including a full day at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover on Saturday. Local Theatre
The Lincoln Theatre Guild presents “Footloose”, directed by Anna Lisa Johannessen at the Lincoln Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are $11 for adults, and $8 for students and Seniors. Singing Convention
