Fairy Kanipe Burton
Fairy Kanipe Burton, 90, of 6010 Windy Knoll Lane, Charlotte, formerly of Vale, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her home.
She was born in Catawba County on August 11, 1923 to the late John Robert Kanipe and Maggie Ethel Gibson Kanipe. She was retired from Lincoln County Schools and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Burton and four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Burton and wife Nora of Rosedale, Va. and Sam Burton and wife Jan of Vale; daughter, Sue Smith and husband Greg of Charlotte; brother, Iray Kanipe of Hickory; sister, Berlie Deal of Hickory; seven grandchildren, Scott Burton, John Burton, Joy Rumley, Dawn McDaniel, Justin Smith, and Keri Thomas; and nine great grandchildren, Aleah McDaniel, Callie McDaniel, Madelyn Rumley, Alexander Rumley, Benjamin Rumley, Nate Smith, Joanna Smith, Sydney Thomas and Cole Thomas.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale, with the Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey, Rev. Larry Burton, and Rev. Justin Smith officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Madge Burch Champion
Mrs. Madge Burch Champion, age 81, of 2547 Gastonia Hwy. Lincolnton passed away on June 21, 2014.
Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family received friends Sunday night at Warlick Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Champion was a native of Clay County, born on August 29, 1932 daughter of the late Lyle and Montreat Parker. She was preceded in death by two sons Melvin Burch, and Marvin Burch; two daughters Juanita Burch and Nancy Burch; one grandson Ricky Burch; one brother Tommy Parker; two sisters Francis Hogsed and Betty Hendricks. Mrs. Champion worked as a caregiver before retiring.
Survivors include: Husband Mickey of the home; one son David Burch of Lincolnton; two daughters Linda Burch and Geneal Patterson of Hayesville; two sisters Azzlee Ledford of Hayesville and Lilian Edwards of Hiawassee, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Dale Hullette
Dale Hullette, 53, of Cherryville died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Born May 27, 1961 in Lincoln County to the late Myra Joan Bridges. He was a supervisor in the furniture industry, and served as pastor at area churches.
Survivors include wife of 35 years, Patty Allen Hullette of the home; sons, Ashley Hullette and fiancé Ryeleigh Loftin of Lincolnton, Everette Hullette and wife Stephanie of Lincolnton, Rocky Hullette and wife Victoria of Lincolnton; brothers, Jerry Hullette and wife Susie of Lincolnton, David Hullette and wife Penny of Cherryville; sister, Diane King and husband Billy of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Eliza Hullette, Cain Hullette, Cannon Hullette, Noah Hullette and Cate Hullette and Gage Loftin.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Hope Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Rev. Nicholas King will officiate. Burial will follow at Westside Baptist Church in Maiden. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Hope Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Ashley Hullette, Everette Hullette, Rocky Hullette, Danny Allen, Jeff Lintz and Daren Tate.

Gary Steve Stroupe
CHERRYVILLE —Mr. Gary Steve Stroupe, 65, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his residence.
Gary was born on May 20, 1949 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Lawrence W. Stroupe and Edna Greene Stroupe. He was retired as a shipping and receiving supervisor from FMC Lithium Division in Bessemer City.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Barbara Hoffman Stroupe of the home; two daughters, Amy Stroupe Queen of Lincolnton and Brenda Stroupe Warren and husband Brad of Mebane; two sisters, Linda Hastings and Patsy Randall both of Cherryville and a brother, Tommy Stroupe of Titusville, Fla.; four grandchildren, T.J. and Gavin Queen and Brayden and Brylea Warren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.

Larry Steve Turner
Mr. Larry Steve Turner, age 75, of 611 Childs Street in Lincolnton, died on Friday, June 20, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.
Larry was born July 8, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late Dick and Myrtle Travis Turner. He began his law enforcement career as a Lincolnton police officer and detective. Then, he retired as a sergeant with the North Carolina DMV enforcement section. He retired a second time with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. He was a Master Mason with the Lincoln Lodge #137, a member of the American Legion for 40 years, served in the North Carolina National Guard, and for many years he was a part of a Tuesday morning golf foursome. He loved his church and was a very active member.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Caskey Turner of the home; two sons, Brent Turner and Darren Turner, both of Lincolnton; sister, Norma T. Willis of Orlando; and two grandchildren, Morgan T. Fox and Gracie Turner, both of Lincolnton.

Clara Marie Long, 67, of Lincolnton died June 22, 2014 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Warlick Funeral Home, Lincolnton.

Dale Hullette, 53, of Cherryville died June 20, 2014.

Ernest “Ernie” Eugene Fox, 72, of Taylorsville died June 21, 2014.
A service to celebrate Ernie’s life will be held June 24, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Conover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends June 24, 2014 from 3 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
