College board meeting
Gaston College will hold its Board of Trustees meeting 4 p.m. at the Dallas campus (Myers Center Board Room, 2nd floor).
Registration is available to individuals interested in taking a Basic Skills Student Success class in preparation for the GED. The class must be completed before taking the test. Classes will be 5:30-8:30 p.m. today (Monday) through Thursday in room 118 of Gaston College. For more information, call (704) 748-5226. Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Rd. in Lincolnton, will Vacation Bible School 6:15-8:30 p.m. daily today (Monday) through Wednesday. Dinner will be served each day at 5:45 p.m. Classes will followe at 6:30 p.m.
Arts Council meeting

The Lincoln Photography Club will meet 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Cultural Center in Lincolnton (Community Room) to discuss fireworks photography. Guests are welcome.

Today (Monday) is the first day to submit entries for the summer woodturning competition and exhibit at the Lincoln Cultural Center in Lincolnton. The Arts Council of Lincoln County is sponsoring the contest. Entries will be accepted through June 25. The exhibit, “Woodturning: The Known and the Unknown” will be open to the public July 1-31. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will host a unwanted medicine drop 5-7 p.m. at the Charlie district, 1889 N. N.C. 16 in Denver. Acceptable items will include vitamins/supplements, liquid medications in leak-proof containers, ointments/creams, prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. Aerosol cans will not be accepted. Alive After Five
The Downtown Development Association and the City of Lincolnton will host Alive After Five starting 6 p.m. with The Rick Strickland Band in downtown Lincolnton. Food vendors will be setup. There will also be a car show/cruise-in.

Kids science event
The Lincoln County Public Library will host “Mr. Bond and the Science Guys” 6:30 p.m. at the Citizens Center. The show is part of the 2014 summer reading program “Fizz! Boom!
