The Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office reported that Crystal Jones Hubbard, 34, of 1841 Ellick Drive, Newton, was seriously injured around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday after intentionally jumping over a second-floor railing at the county detention center.
According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, Hubbard complained of sickness earlier Sunday and had vomited. She was allowed to go to the showers to clean up. Hubbard waited for a jail trustee to leave the area, moved back to where her cell was located and jumped through the second and third railings on the walkway, falling 20 feet to the cement floor below.
Hubbard was taken to CMC-Lincoln after sustaining possible head and internal injuries. After being stabilized, she was airlifted to CMC-Main in Charlotte.
Hubbard was arrested Friday in connection with the Sheriff’s Office Operation Play 60, a round-up of suspected drug dealers. As of press time, no updates have been reported related to her condition.
