Charles Jerry Barkley
Charles Jerry Barkley, age 70, of 110 McCleave Street in China Grove, passed away.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Barkley was born July 30, 1943, in Lincoln County, to the late Joseph Van and Louise Dellinger Barkley. He was the owner/photographer of Barkley Studios, and also a photographer for Lincoln Times-News and retired from Yellow Freight.
He is survived by a daughter, Malinda Barkley of Cornelius; two brothers, Fred Barkley of Raleigh and David Barkley of Wilmington; two sisters, Susan Hester of Lincolnton and Debbie Vance of Jacksonville, Fla.; friend, Kelly Pierce Rosales; and his very special K-9 companions.

Jacob Bill Dellinger
Anderson, S.C. – Mr. Jacob Bill Dellinger, 79 passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.
Born September 27, 1934 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Jacob Calvin “J.C.” Dellinger and Cora Belle Goins Dellinger. After Bill retired from Duke Power with 40 years of service, he owned and operated Dellinger’s Used Cars in Anderson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kay Beard and Coleen Houser and a brother, Jimmy Dellinger.
Bill is survived by his wife, Juanita Black Dellinger; two sons, Mike Dellinger of Iron Station and Rick Kelley and wife, Angela of Anderson, S.C.; daughter, Linda H. Baxter of Lincolnton; sister, Joyce Travis of Hickory; four grandchildren, Kelli Dellinger Beam and husband, Trey of Cherryville, Ainsley and Ashlyn Kelley both of Anderson, S.C. and Andy Baxter and wife, Dana of Vale; and two great-grandchildren, Darrah Beam and Raylee Baxter.
Services will be private.

Helen Sue Shull Goode
Helen Sue Shull Goode, 79, of Albemarle passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. There are no arrangements at this time.
Born June 6, 1935 in Lincoln Co., she was the daughter of the late Webb Shull and Iva Velma Huss Reep and was a 1953 graduate of Cherryville High School. She was a retired employee of Allison Manufacturing. Her husband Joe Goode preceded her in death on June 11 of this year. She is survived by a brother Martin L. “M.L.” Shull of Cherryville.
George Franklin Helton
STANLEY — Mr. George Franklin Helton, age 84, of 1846 Rock Hollar Road in Stanley, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
His funeral service will be 3 p.m. today, at Amity Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Helton was born March 14, 1930, in Lincoln County, to the late George Bruce and Ollie Lee Pope Helton. He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Shelvie Stout Helton of the home; two sons, Robert Helton of Shelby and Joseph F. Helton of Mt. Holly; three daughters, Teresa Wooten of Stanley, Diana Maxwell of Iron Station, and Gina Ingram of Stanley; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Burgin, Dustin Crouse, Joshua Moffitt, Georgia Henderson, Michael McManus, Ryan Maxwell, Katrina Schlomann, Emma Helton, Maddox Helton, and Nicholas Veitch; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Avis Bernice Heffner Hoover
MONROE — Avis Bernice Heffner Hoover, age 97, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
She was born in Maiden on July 13, 1916, daughter of the late William Lonodis Heffner and Sallie Lillian Love Heffner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Henry Hoover, Jr. and son, William Heffner Hoover; brothers, Leonard Thompson Heffner and Clifton Womble Heffner and sister, Mrs. Una Heffner Arndt.
Bernice, “B”, was a long-time resident of Lincolnton and a graduate of the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina. “B” was a retired school teacher with the Lincoln County Public Schools.
Bernice is survived by her son, Dr. Charles H. Hoover, III and wife, Frances Lyon Hoover; daughter-in- law, Mrs. Nadine Godwin Hoover; grandchildren, William H. Hoover, II, Crystal Hoover Tattersall, Elizabeth Hoover Gwynne and husband Peter Holford Gwynne, Charles Henry Hoover, IV and Matthew Lyon Hoover; great-grandchildren Kylie Faith Hoover, William Heffner Hoover, III and Bryson Richard Tattersall; niece, Caroline Heffner Dixon and family, Mrs. Margaret H. Rose and family and nephews, Dr. Leonard Thomson Heffner, Jr. and family and Mr. Clifton W. Heffner, Jr. and family.

Ethel Rebecca Johnson Houser
Ethel Rebecca Johnson Houser, age 89, of Cardinal Care in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. today, at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating. Her body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Houser was born April 8, 1925, in Cleveland County, to the late Vernon Bane and Lottie Mae Hoyle Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Anderson Houser, brothers Loyd Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and Ervin Johnson, and sisters Edna Wilfong, Ruby Morgan, Dessie Shull, and Marie Beaver. She was employed by Carolina Mills before retiring. After retiring, she and her husband owned a produce stand. Mrs. Houser was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed for her kind, gentle, and caring ways. She also loved to cook and take the grandchildren camping.
She is survived by a son, Steve Houser and wife Barbara of Maiden; two daughters, Janice H. Helms and husband W.C., and Rebecca H. Taylor and husband Carl, all of Lincolnton; one brother, Gene Johnson of Statesville; one sister, Ruth Willis of Vale; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

James Harold Martin
Mr. James Harold Martin, age 89, of Lincolnton, died on Monday, June 16, 2014.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Plott and Rev. Roy Sides officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin was born January 28, 1925, in Lincoln County, to the late James Jacob “JJ” and Sara Canipe Martin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Earl Martin, Charles Martin, Walter Martin, Hugh Martin, Paul Martin, and John Martin. He retired after 48 years from Broyhill Furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Grigg Martin of the home; one son, Harold Dean Martin and wife Deedie of Lincolnton; two daughters, Theresa Martin Beal of Maiden and Regina Martin Digh and husband Phil of Lincolnton; a sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Sezter; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Martin, Craig and Micah Beal, Courtney Martin, Matthew and Steven Milstead, and Michael Digh; and six great-grandchildren.

By the Grace of God, Myrtle Hester Parker, was called to her Heavenly home on June 16, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at First Baptist Church in High Shoals with Rev. Doug McClain and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at High Shoals Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Parker was born June 12, 1933, in Gaston County, to the late Gus and Ola Setzer Hester. She was CFO of Parker Fish Company.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Max Parker; her children, Micki Pflugner, Mel Parker, and Melinda Doyle; and her grandchildren, Michael Morrison, Josh Parker, Dusty and Lindsey Pflugner, Tiffany Parker; and one great-grandchild, Ayden Parker.
