A 10-year-old boy is in stable condition after accidentally hanging himself from basketball goal at a Lincolnton home on Sunday.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the boy was playing basketball outside a residence on the 2800-block of Long Shoals Road around 9:30 a.m. when his grandmother saw him hanging from the 61-inch-high goal and called his father.
The boy’s father ran outside, cut the boy down and administered CPR.
The boy was airlifted from the scene to CMC-Lincoln and then transferred to CMC-Main, according to a press release.
