Tay Revere Benfield
DENVER — Tay Revere Benfield, 67, of Lineberger Rd., Denver, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville.
Born December 8, 1946, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Thurston R. and Mary Lou Poole Benfield. Mr. Benfield was a construction worker. He enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding.
Mr. Benfield was preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie and David Benfield.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Barker Benfield; son, Mark Benfield; sister, Brenda Rhodes; grandchildren, Stacy, Cassidy, Chase and Kerri; great grandson, Conar; and three nieces, Lisa, Cindy and Michelle.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. this evening at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, followed by the service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Iva Lee Canipe Goins
Iva Lee Canipe Goins, 84, of 833 Shoal Road, Lincolnton, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
She was born on September 1, 1929 in Lincoln County, to the late W.C. Canipe and Julia Lucille Christopher Canipe. She was a member of North Brook Baptist Church and retired from Bike Athletics.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband John Calvin Goins; two brothers, Sam Canipe and Lester Canipe; and sister, Mildred Scronce.
She is survived by her four sons, Allen “ Gordy” Goins and wife Libby of Newton, Johnny Goins and wife Kelly of Lincolnton, Gerald Goins and fiancée Penny Williams of Vale, and Dr. Keith Goins of Lincolnton; five daughters, Rita Katz and husband Marc of Vale, Jane Wright and husband Terry of Vale, LeAnn Gilbert and husband Jerry of Lincolnton, Beth Hallman and husband Gary of Vale and Lisa Goins, Retired US Navy, of Vale; two brothers, Harold Canipe of Crouse and Jerry Canipe of Lincolnton; two sisters, Wilma Sain of Vale and Clara Cloninger of Lincolnton; 12 grandchildren and 15 great
The family received friends on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at North Brook Baptist
Church, Cherryville, with the Rev. Robert Wise and Dr. Wade Dellinger officiating. Burial followed in church cemetery.

Carolyn Arrowood Robinson
ORLANDO, FLA. — Carolyn Arrowood Robinson, born December 14, 1937, passed away May 18, 2014.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Road in Dallas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Carolyn was the daughter of William F. Arrowood and Queen West Arrowood of Bessemer City. She began her 55-year marriage to Dale F. Robinson June 21, 1959. They moved to Florida in 1961.
Carolyn graduated from Dallas High School, Dallas, NC and later Women’s College of University of North Carolina in Greensboro with a degree in Home Economics Education. She taught at Oceanway Jr. High School in Jacksonville until they moved to Orlando in 1964. Carolyn taught Home Economics and Science at Walker Jr. High School and Conway Jr. High School for over two decades. She continued her career as a respected educator becoming a program coordinator for the Beginning Teacher Program with Orange County Public Schools until she retired in 1999. Carolyn also served as President of the Florida Staff Development Association.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Lyrae (Karl) Williams; and nephew, Joe Fowler.
Carolyn was a much-loved wife, mother, aunt, neighbor, co-worker, and friend to many. She was a sweet lady and touched many lives. After a 14-year struggle with Parkinson’s, she is finally at peace. May memories of her caring warmth, wisdom, and true southern hospitality be a comfort to all who knew her.
