The North Brook #2 Extension and Community Association Club met May 19 at North Brook Community Center with 10 members present. President Lucille Johnson welcomed everyone, and a meal was enjoyed by all. Glenda “Doodle” Craig read the meeting devotion “Quiet Giving From the Psalms. Members also celebrated May birthdays for Joyce Peeler and Mary Lou Wood.
In old business, members were thanked for attending “Golden Opportunity Day” with the Senior Center as well as going to see the special speaker from Southeast Chiropractic from Gastonia. Ten members also attended Camp Dogwood this year, club officials said.
In new business, club officials announced a jewelry class taking place 9:30 a.m. June 2 in the Cooperative Extension’s demonstration kitchen in the Citizens Center in Lincolnton, as well as an overnight tour to Lake Waccamaw and Wilmington June 12. Cost will be $150 (2 per room). Anyone interested in attending the trip can call (704) 736-8461. Cooking classes will also take place 5:30 p.m. June 6 & 15 in the Cooperative Extension kitchen. Fried apple pies will be for sale Aug. 18-22 for $3 apiece. Whole pies will be made Sept. 16-19, club officials said.
During the meeting, Johnson presented the program “A Potpourri of Household Hints and Other Information Pertaining to the Home.” Members closed the meeting by repeating “The Collect.”
