Police in Maiden are searching for a man who claimed he had a gun in order to steal medication from a pharmacy located near the Lincoln-Catawba County line earlier this week.
The incident took place just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday at TAS Drug, located at 201 Island Ford Road, according to a Maiden Police Department press release.
The suspect, described as a 6-foot-1, slender white male in his late 20s to early 30s, entered the pharmacy and issued a threatening note to staff, police said.
The note not only stated the man had a gun but also demanded employees give him a specific controlled substance behind the pharmacy counter, according to the release.
Store surveillance recorded the suspect who, at the time, was wearing shorts, shoes and sunglasses — each item black in color — along with a black and red Cincinnati Red’s baseball hat, police said.
The hat additionally had the team’s logo embroidered on the front.
After taking the medication, the man fled the property in a vehicle witnesses described to officers as an “older” model GM, Ford or Chrysler, the release said.
Anyone who can identify the suspect or has additional information in the incident is asked to call the Maiden Police Department at (828) 428-5005.
