Bandy’s High School will host the Bryan and Kris Harvey Baseball Camps 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 16-19 (for rising 7th-12th graders) and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23-26 (for rising 4th-6th graders), both at Mezzepa Park in Mooresville. Cost is $250. To register, visit hbalakemonsters.com.
Golf tournament registration
Thursday (June 5) is the final day to register at the Lincoln County YMCA branch for the facility’s annual golf tournament Friday, June 6 at Lincoln Country Club in Lincolnton. On-site registration and practice will be 9:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 12 p.m. Event and hole sponsorships are still needed. Community Garden field trip
East Lincoln Community Garden will take a field trip to Jo Ann Ostrander’s rose garden in Maiden. Members can meet 9 a.m. at the Food Lion parking lot at N.C. 16 and Fairfield-Forest Rd. in Denver to carpool.
LHS reunion registration

West Lincoln Optimist Club will host cheerleading and football signups for fall 2014 6-7 p.m. at West Lincoln Optimist Park, 5959 N.C. 27 in Vale. Cost is $80 for football and $50 for cheerleading (uniform $150). Final payment is due July 15. Additional tryouts will be 6-7 p.m. June 5, 9 & 12.
The N.C. Cooperative Extension will host the first class in a series of four this summer on food preservation. Pressure canning (green beans) will start 11 a.m. at the Citizens Center in Lincolnton. Additional classes will be June 9 and July 9 &14 on the following topics: freezing foods, pickling and making/canning relish and jams and jellies. Cost per class is $10. Board of Education meeting
The Lincoln County Board of Education will meet 6 p.m. in the Board of Education Administrative Offices, 353 N. Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton. A Building and Site Committee meeting will follow along with a meeting with the Budget and Finance Committee.
The Lincolnton Lions Club will meet 7 p.m. in the Elm Classroom in CMC-Lincoln’s Medical Plaza, 441 McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton. Lincolnton Fire Department Chief, Mitch Burgin, will speak. Members and guests planning to eat in the hospital cafeteria are urged to arrive 30 minutes early. Additional topics of discussion will be June fundraisers and joint service projects between the local club and the Lawndale Lions at Camp Dogwood on June 11.
