Mildred Herring Wade

Our amazing, most precious mother, who was fondly known as Millie, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, May 28, 2014, at Carillon Assisted Living in Lincolnton.
She was born September 26, 1920 to the late Denver and Dessie Herring in Lincolnton, Ga.
She graduated from Girls High School in Anderson S.C., went to Beauty and Business school. Was a beautician for many years in Anderson S.C…Receptionist for Coca Cola plant in Greenville S.C…and retired from Geer Drug Co. in Greenville S.C.
She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
She married Jeremiah Carlton Wade and lived in Greenville, S.C. There she raised her family. She never gave up on beautifying others that needed a cut, color or perm. She will be remembered for her beautiful sweet smile and her inspiration to her family with strong faith in God, her caring words, her dry wit and her love for life and nurturing her family and friends. She was a member of Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde, Fla. She lived in Fla. for 20 years. Her later years were lived out in Lincolnton, where she lived at Carillon Assisted Living.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jeremiah Carlton Wade; parents, Denver and Dessie Herring; brother, Denver Jr.; two sisters, Vernelle Mauldin and Jo Beth Logue.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Herring and wife Diane of Cocoa, Fla.; children Rosalind W Checho and husband Robert of Clermont, Fla., Sandra W Eagle and husband Emmett of Lincolnton, grandchildren, Tamara Checho of Clermont, Fla. and fiancée Matthew Kauffman, Chase Checho of Minturn, Colo., Matthew Eagle of Lincolnton and fiancée Lauren Higgins, Brant Eagle and wife Gina of Hickory, Alex Eagle of Lincolnton; one great grandchild, Jay Kauffman III and future great grandchild, Andrea Parks.
A memorial celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall in Lincolnton, followed by refreshments. Graveside Services will be held in Winter Park, Fla. with family and friends at Glen Haven Memorial Park INC,

James Brady Thomas
DENVER — James Brady Thomas, 55, passed away on May 25, 2014.
Born on April 16, 1959 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Mary and the late Ralph Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David.
He is survived by brothers, Jeff and Greg; sister, Dianna Davis; children, Jennifer and Bobby Joe; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31 at 3 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 441 So. Pilot Knob Road Stanley, NC 28164.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

GASTONIA — Richard Keener, 73, of Gastonia, passed away May 28, 2014 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Ralph Bly Keener and Deseree Milburn Keener.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., this evening at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A Service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Reverend Caroll A. Flack will be officiating. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
Richard was the owner of Ark Improvement Company and a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of fifty five years, Carolyn Lail Keener; children, Derrick Keener, Sandy Moore (Rick), Ralph Keener (Elaina), Sheryl Click (Johnny), Danny Keener (Jennifer); 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and brother-in-law, John Price.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Keener Price.

Beulah Clemmer Tompkins
Beulah Clemmer Tompkins, 99, died at home on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret Joy Clemmer, and was born in Stanley.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and sang in the choir for 60 years. She was past President of Gastonia Woman’s Club, and the Gastonia Music Club. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels; received an award for Outstanding Service in the American Cancer Society. She retired after 23 years at the City of Gastonia, and 7 years at Belk’s.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, David Tompkins; children, Alicia Luhrs (Bernd), Cynthia Cloninger (Les), Sylvia Smith, Betti Krapfl (Roger), John Tompkins (Beckie), David Tompkins Jr. (Elaine); 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 805 S. York St., Gastonia on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Braxton East. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Private family interment will follow.
