LINCOLN TIMES-NEWS

A pair of East Lincoln seniors will continue to play the sports they love beyond high school.
Chloe Read has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Division I Campbell University, while Carly Johnson will play softball at Division III powerhouse Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga., East Lincoln announced in separate press releases.
Read has swam competitively for six years, and swims for Huntersvile-based NOMAD Aquatics under the coaching of Mark Dell. She plans to major in graphic design and earn minors in Spanish and photography.
Read is the recipient of a partial athletic scholarship and has been awarded the academic Presidential Scholarship.
Johnson has played travel softball with the Denver Dazzle and Ringers organizations for nine years as a pitcher and first baseman. She was an all-conference selection as a junior, and named pitcher of the year in 2013.
Johnson, a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society, has been awarded the academic Presidential Scholarship, and has maintained a 4.3 GPA, East Lincoln said.
Piedmont College has won back-to-back USA South Conference titles.
